  1. Numbers from 2025-2026 for comparison:
    Floor: $70.6M
    Midpoint: $83M
    Ceiling: $95.5M
    Max Salary: $19.1M

  2. Captobvious75

Thia is why I’ll continue to watch from home

  3. MobiusDie

Maybe this will make the offseason a bit more interesting instead of everyone sitting on their hands.

  4. Fuck off Bettman! Retire already so we can fix the fucked up playoffs.

  5. Star_Petal_Arts

Now was the time to fix the tax-free issue… wtf Bettman?

  6. Necessary_Scruffness

So the Sharks only have to pay Macklin Celebrini $20.8 AAV over the length of his next contract.

    What a relief.

  7. DiscoStu691969

Good, now go figure out how you’re going to rig another draft.

4.9% Average Salary Cap increase since 2007, 8.9% up from last year. Anyone want to do the cost of tickets or channels?

So Celebrini’s contract will be $20.8m AAV, got it.

  10. Zaxbys_Cook

The Hurricanes will now go into next season with 14.23 million in cap space. 4 first round draft picks in the next three years. The only players the Hurricanes will really have to pay next year is Nikishin. Only other players who are consistently in the lineup are Jankowski and Freddie. Absolutely crazy when compared to Oilers who have 16 million, 1 pick in 2029 and half a team to sign.

  11. guywithshades85

Someone’s getting paid and it ain’t me.

  12. -king_james_23-

Why is the floor so low ?

If the ceiling is 104m then the floor should be 100m

  13. vladastine

Excellent, this means the Avs should be able to comfortably pay Makar

  14. ArtemisRifle

abolish caps, drafts, and single entity institutional control over a sport

  15. Overseer190_

I never knew there was a maximum nhl salary

  16. CattleDogCurmudgeon

For context, this year is $95.5mil. That’s a 13% increase.

Olympic bump was real this year, I suppose.

Or potential Rivalry of the Heated variety.

  17. There’s a great evolutionary story about how, over centuries, horses would grow longer teeth while grass would get more abrasive and sandy, to wear those teeth down. It’s like an arms race taken place over millennia.

The same scenario is playing out in Edmonton. As the cap goes up and Bowman fucks up, can his incompetence outpace the extra money in the cap??

Buying out a goalie, signing a healthy scratch for 8 years and trading a bad goalie in a cheap expiring deal for a bad goalie on an expensive deal with term are the lives he’ll need to continue to keep ahead of the cap rise!!

  18. CommonSensei-_

Damn… Tuch is gonna get paid!
    Hell yeah!
    Go Sabres!

  19. Another healthy growth year. Imagine how much more the league would make if they’d stop making it so hard for fans to watch their product lol

  20. Bettman really looks like if the « Count » was a person in this photo

  21. oldschoolhc

has a salary cap ever lowered since its inception?

  22. Cross_Czek

Oh so Cale Makar is gonna make MONEY money. Good to hear.

  23. Most-Use-5037

Does the NHL exist in a financial vacuum? Be interesting to see if these cap rises continue if the cost of living and current geopolitical situation continues.
