  1. Pfft. The Denver Broncos alone generate more revenue than many other three and four sport towns combined. Denver Metro is at about five million people now. It’s just that the rest of the country flies over us so they think we’re not down here. Lol.

  2. Avs had 6 players which they drafted in this team (all of them 1st rounders). I'm not sure I'd say they were built through draft

  3. Is Tampa a large market? Florida has two teams. None of the states around Colorado have hockey teams.

  4. 18th out of 210 DMAs is not a small market team. Just thought that maybe ESPN should get their facts straight

  5. Subban is the only one who knows what he is talking about. I hate the people who do these and just sound stupid.

  6. They might be a smaller market but since moving to colorado they’ve been one of the better teams with by far the greatest rivalry in nhl history and some of the greatest players of all time and have been willing to spend their money.

  7. NHL on ESPN is a bad idea!
I get the national exposure, come on. I Love Hockey as do most fans on here. Outside of Canada the NHL isn’t a big market. When the NHL came to Colorado in 1995 I caught the Hockey bug. Its fast, hard hitting & takes time to catch on. Its the greatest sport in the world! Listening to ESPN talk about the NHL gives me a migraine headache.

  8. ESPN is obsessed with the idea of Small Market and Big Market teams, like seriously, I watch a lot of basketball on there, and I remember when Giannis was looking for a contract, they said he would not stay with a small market team, and would inevitably go to LA or NY. Like every single time there is major free agent, even when Jokic needed a contract that he already said he planned to sign with the Denver Nuggets, they said he would not stay in a small market. Can’t stand this stupid idea, it’s like they believe that only LA, New York, Boston and Chicago deserve to have good players. That it’s a shame when a team in a “Small Market Area” retains a loyal player. Also P.K. was the only person here who looked like they knew a lot about hockey, and wasn’t faking passion for the game. Please ESPN grow the game, and stop treating it like it’s necessary to talk about it since you have the rights. I only started watching hockey a couple of years back, and it has been my favorite sport ever since. Also, ESPN just clearly doesn’t understand the fundamental difference in team play in hockey versus basketball. Giannis is good enough where he doesn’t really need that deep of a team, even if it helps. The Avs are where they are, because of their depth, not to say having Makar and Mackinnon hurt to have at all, but in basketball, it takes 1 player to take over a game, but in hockey it takes every player to score. I love both leagues, but it drives me crazy how partial ESPN is to the NBA. It’s disappointing, because hockey might be as accessible as it has ever been, with superstars that are as skilled as the league has ever seen, but ESPN being too caught up on the idea of a team in Denver, winning a championship because it is too small to have truly earned it. While they may not directly be saying that a small market team is bad, the fact they mention it so often makes it completely apparent how they truly feel about it.

  9. Love the comment at 2:16 as well, great job you remember 3 dynasty team that have all won within the last decade. I mean that’s like saying I remember the Miami Heat winning, I remember the Golden State Warriors winning, or I remember the New England Patriots winning. Like wow what a great hockey knowledge. I guarantee that only P.K. could tell you who those teams played in the finals.

  10. For posterity sake I counted how many time the NBA on ESPN uploaded a video within 24 hours of this comment, 28, meanwhile the NHL on ESPN account has not posted within the last 24 hours at all.

  11. "Last 4 teams who have all won SCups have come from small markets" immediately followed by "Gary Bettman effect" and laughter…is that funny? Not for the reasons the panel thought, because the telling detail of the GB effect is not that "small market teams" can win the championship and that's good for the league, it's that only US teams will be winning the SC and you will never see an all Canadian team final because that is a viewership and revenue killer stateside. The last Canadian team to win the Cup was Mtl in '93 and there have been only 4 Finals appearances, all losses (poor 2011 Canucks, they really got *******), by teams from north of the border since then.

  12. That is an exceptional amount of humility from PK to offer such (accurate) esteemed praise of a fellow defenseman.

  13. "I wanna congratulate the Kroenkes" lmao fucking doing one bro. They blacked out the Avs and the Nuggets…and the Broncos will be blacked out soon enough. What a fucking joke. The worst part of sporting success is that you have to share it with these robber barons.

  14. Pitt is a big market? Denver is twice the size. Talk about failing at geography and east coast bias.

  15. I'd only Toronto won the Stanley Cup this year. If only. The Avs won the Stanley Cup, now, it's the Maple Leafs turn to win the Stanley Cup.

  16. Say what you will about PK Subban the player, his career is a mixed bag of Norris Trophy winner to overpaid self-indulgent baby. But as an analyst, he's so inciteful and relatable it's like he was born to do studio work. The guy's incredibly intelligent.

  17. PK nailed it. Landy drafted 2011; Nate 2013; Mikko 2015; Makar 2017. The core players are home grown, lifelong Avs who have only ever played for each other and this city. To see them develop into stars, win it all, and win it together is just incredible.

  18. Denver / Boulder is market #19. It is not "small" market. Also It is unique because there are no other NHL teams in close proximity meaning that you should also include, Salt Lake City, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Albuquerque, etc…. It's stupid to call them small market…they are one of the most multi-market teams in the league!

  19. I love p.k Sivan

Please retired soon p.k and join ESPN hockey analyst

You know hockey stuffs then what they have now

    You the best P.K

  20. The Avalanche jerseys sell very well. I would definitely say mid market as most Canadian teams, Nashville, Seattle, Arizona are all smaller markets than Denver

  21. They should’ve been the ones beating my Rangers in 2014 in 5 games. Then, we would’ve lost to them again this year, in 7. That would’ve made Rangers-Avalanche a rivalry.

  22. Myself and 500K others gave y’all the small market middle finger yesterday at the parade. What an EPIC day!!

  23. ahhhh PK maybe swing on through colorado and we continue a good thing now that you've already made bank. Love to have you anchor the third pairing in Denver and try to get you your cup.

  24. LOL, Tampa is a smaller market than Denver. Stop trying to make the AVS look like super human underdogs….and not the constantly underperforming juggernaut that finally figured out how to get out of its own way. Truth will get you more views than fantasy.

  25. Denver is a premier city that people in flooding into in droves, it’s hardly small market 😝😝

  26. Small market? Half a million people at the parade alone. On a Thursday.
Tell me, what good has Toronto's presence in a market that size done for them? Maybe they should move.

  27. Small market?! Come on, you can’t tell me they actually thought this was a good idea. Denver is massive, and population doesn’t even have to be your argument. The turnout for games, the parade, watch parties were all sold out. Of course a championship brings in non-regular viewers but to say small market is disrespectful. 3 cups since 96’ and they’re sayin this. Gimme a break ESPN

  28. Denver being called a small market just doesnt make sense to me.. just population comparison or what? we might not have as many people but its definitely a huge sports city. Avs, broncos, nuggets, rockies, Rapids, mammoths, outlaws. we are a good market for most sports. soccer games are kind of whack but soccer is kind of whack in general

  29. Recently got into hockey a couple years ago. I’ve been a Colorado sports fans since birth. I’m 22 now. But I gotta say hockey is very interpreting Watch. It tied with basketball as my second favorite sport. Got into hockey when Colorado got back to the playoffs, and really got into it when the 8th Seeded avs beat the 1st seeded Flames. Good stuff Colorado!

  30. Denver is small market?? Tampa is small market? Pittsburgh is big market? Wtf is this video?

  31. Why are so many people complaining. The title is misleading but I didn’t think the analysis was bad. Anytime hockey is mentioned in First Take is good to me

  32. If you live in Denver you wouldn't think it's a small market. The passion they have for all the sports is insane.

  33. PK is right in what he says about Sakic building a team through draft picks. I don't like PK on the ice but an announcer he is missing his calling. Once he retires I hope ESPN or NHL Network hires him.
