  1. I was so hyped about that 1994 sharks team. Larianov, Makarov, Irbe. It was a fun ride that sadly ended too soon.

  2. I became a Sharks fan at age 14 (2010). Knowing nothing about San Jose or the Bay Area, I only chose this team due to the colors of the jersey, the logo, the fact that it's a shark, and Thornton, Marleau and a very young Logan Couture catching my eye. My local teams, Devils, Rangers, and Flyers, well they were good, but they never really intrigued me enough to be a fan of their teams. Ever since then, I've grown accustomed to them having terrific regular seasons, only to get to the post season, have struggles, and eventually fall to a team somewhere in the run. Nowadays, watching the Sharks is a bit difficult with their struggles carrying over to the regular season. Of course the easy thing to do is blame it on one thing, like the goaltending, the coaching, the offense, Erik Karlsson, and call it a day. The thing is, when a team is struggling to make strides and make the post season, and it's a team you normally see make the post season, it's more often than not multiple things that need to be fixed. Either way, you'd think a fan from the East Coast would bail at some point right? Find another team to root for because of perhaps their successes like Tampa? I've been tempted, but I've always remained a Sharks fan. Truth is, there's no other team I'd root for other than this one, and when we win the Cup, I can perhaps come back to this comment and say that the wait was worth it. I do hope that it's soon, because this fanbase has been teased enough throughout the years. Here's to hoping we have a turnaround next season.

  3. Oakland dont care about the athletics please move the team they are not going to build a stadium there it is a damm shame

  4. The issues with the shark is they sold there soul with the Karlsson deal and could not afford to keep core players. Then the roster was getting to old with a lack of farm talent. What made the sharks successful in the 90s and up to the mid 2010 was a great farm system and draft. During that time they were always able to call up talent and plug them in with success right away.
With the A's….. plan and simple… Ownership does not want to invest in the team/players. They want to develop the current coliseum site and jack London square so they can make money, but no one sees that. Other then the Coliseum site being old who cares about the rest. Just invest in players and team. Then the fans will come back. Then build a new stadium on the existing site. We just need a Bart stop, essay access to the freeway, and a huge parking lot for tailgating. Sprinkle in some suites here and there and that is it. Nothing fancy. Jack London square is a dump with a view of the estuary not the bay. No parking for tailgating and nothing for Bart! Come on….

  5. Oakland A's attendance is the worst in the MLB and it's not even close. Averaging just 8k a game. I don't blame Oakland fans as they have the worst owner in the MLB and craphole stadium but it's just overall depressing to see.

  6. Unpopular Opinion: just think what Dave Kaval could do as president of the Sharks? The energy, enthusiasm, and ticketing plans he installed with the A’s really put the A’s in a good place. A lot of that has since been demolished while they focus on a new stadium. The Sharks need that type of executive to come in and shake things up.

  7. Being an A's and Raiders fan means you get used to disappointment and poorly performing teams, so while it's frustrating I do accept that the Sharks couldn't stay good/great forever. I just hope they find a GM with a solid vision and plan to improve this team. Also will be interesting if they hire a GM before the draft so he can get a crack at the top 10 pick or will they wait till later in the offseason?

  8. Regarding the Sharks, it seems it's only time until the Sharks sign Barabonov, Ferraro & Kahkoenon. With the addition of Thomas Bordeleau, over the last 8 games, it seems the lines were able to settle down. The #1 line of Meier, Hertl & Barabonov was solid, with Bonino and hopefully a revitalized Labanc on Couture's line Balcers Bordeleau and Gregor can work together even more. The wild card is William Eklund. Where will he fall? Reedy looks very promising, small move will get the team back sooner than later. Ferraro, Knyzhov, Vlasic on the left and Burns, Karlsson & Merkley on the Right with Kahkoenen & Hill in net. Sharks need to find new homes for Reimer, Simek etc.

  9. I have no idea, What's so ever why people on here are thinking the Sharks could relocate? I mean, Do you really think the NHL will approve the relocation of the only NHL team in the massive population center of Northern California? C'Mon! Calm Down!!! Also, What other market is better then the Bay Area? The A's situation is more dire, Right Now! Focus on that.

  10. If the A's move to Vegas I'll be really hurt am still not over the Raiders leaving sometimes I wished the Raiders had look into Sacramento why haven't the A's looked at sac?

  11. Thanks for the detailed analysis, Brodie. Appreciate your long term view and optimism in these challenging times. Enjoy your presence on the A's broadcasts and coverage. Keep on!

  12. The A's and Sharks are both going to be out of the playoff picture for a long time. The A's keep trading away their stars and the Sharks chose to invest in some of the wrong players and Boughner is a bad coach and needs to be fired.

  13. I'm a fan of both teams…Grew up in Danville and even though I left…. Honolulu I am still an intense fan and make it known I'm a fan of both teams at any bar or place I go where the games are playing. It's sad to see everybody dogging the A's on ESPN saying look how many fans are in the stadium but that's okay we will still win and believe it or not I still think the Oakland coliseum was one of the greatest places to see a baseball game sitting in the right field bleachers with as I call them my knucklehead friends. I remember just flying to Oakland from Honolulu to catch an A's game and experiencing such a classic day as bacon day LOL and if I do recall I'm just thinking off the top of my head right now Kansas city's right fielder Mike Sweeney I think was the one who paid for all of our beer in hot dogs the whole day and we were so hard on him for 2 days it was great and I'll never forget it and I hope I'll be able to experience something like that again bringing a girlfriend with me for 3 Days in Oakland in her rolling her eyes and even though we aren't together anymore we still talk about it how fun that trip was. Thank you for doing your outlook on this I will subscribe and hopefully hear more about this I'm going to start checking out your post a lot more aloha

  14. So the As grow some more talent only to trade them away… again? 😐….. Still have my Josh Donaldson jersey.

  15. Regardless, whether they relocate or build a new stadium in Oakland, the A's are still going to be underdogs under the ownership of John Fisher.

  16. I am just a sports nut, I like the A's, Giants, Sharks etc. I want the Sharks to stay. The A's deserve better. Such history and now… The owners have failed them and the leadership in Oakland is inept and they have been for decades!

  17. For the Sharks, we need some dedication for the team like we had when we were "ALMOST" Stanley Cup Champions. 30 years and still waiting for that Cup. By the way, to counter the negative comments, I am a lifelong Sharks fan from North Carolina. I am born and raised in North Carolina for 41 years and have been a Sharks fan since day 1. I've been trhough it all with my Sharks and at least have the pleasure to see them at leaast once every year.

If the Sharks ever want to move, Greensboro has a 20,000+ seat arena that has no teams, but our Director is not a nice man.

  18. The Tank is old and obsolete but it will make a perfect corporate center for Google. IF Google does its build out in San Jose then well the SJ Sharks have to move. No one realistically believes that Googleville and the Sharks can coexist. You would have an absolute traffic nightmare.

  19. The A's have the problem that if you don't produce a winning team then you aren't likely to get a new stadium. MLB announced a new minor league being AAAA ball. It's called the Oakland A's. You join the major leagues after doing a year or two at Oakland.

Conclusion or bet. Sharks go to SF. A's go to Las Vegas.

  20. The A's will relocate to Las Vegas. The A's president was in Las Vegas last Thursday meeting with local business leaders. The relocation will happen. Say Bye Bye to Oakland 😂

  21. The Sharks are gonna get it back together. Nothing to worry about. The A's ownership is just killing time driving the fans away until they can follow the Raiders to Vegas.

  22. How many failed retools have to take place before we can call it a counter productive rebuild. I get wanting to preserve ones job but DW left just embrace it. You can't say you know this group can make it and miss 3 years in a row and still think that.

  23. The entire Bay Area is facing serious problems of homelessness and unemployment. (for starters). I went to college in Santa Clara (San Jose) and it's a shame to see my old neighborhood in such a deplorable condition. Both Oakland and San Jose were major sports' centers. Today with all the socio/economic problems , it's no wonder that sports viewing has declined. GOOD LUCK TO THE BAY AREA !!!!! My heart goes out to all the needy folks.
