How dare Bruce Cassidy hold NHL players to a higher standard! How dare he have expectations of each player to perform a certain way and follow the system. Not like the Bergys and the Marchands and the Krejci’s are successful, excellent leaders, Stanley Cup Champions or anything.
This sounds like a load of shit and a huge mistake.
Bruce Cassidy being fired doesn't sit well with me, Neely & Sweeney can't take responsibility for some bad decisions they have made, but can blame everything on Cassidy!
I do believe some changes needed to happen with Cassidy, especially with the offensive blue line play & the power play, but u could easily of hired a different assistant coach to help with those issues!

Some times change is needed, when you come up short continually something needs to be done…although I think Don Sweeney is more responsible that Cassidy in my opinion… the 2014 draft was a DISASTER…
Cap jail, no offense, minimum defense, no true leader (that stays on the ice) and low picks…long rebuild ahead. Pasta and/or Hall will be dealt mark my words.
I'm 42 years old been a bruins fan my whole life and will continue to be a bruins fan the rest of my life as I watch all 82 games for many many years now and I'm not gonna lie I'm a little embarrassed to be a bruins die hard at this time this organization has been fairly good over the last 10 12 years or so but I see trouble times ahead I feel they need to get there shit together in that front office and wake up and see it's time for Sweeney and neely to get axed
All the Problems that have Grown slowly Year by Year, have ALL permeated down from the Very Owners Themselves. They've All been around Hockey Long Enough to know, Right from Wrong. Hockey Decision OR Money Decision. The Owners, ALL look at the Betting Revenues Coming in, and secondarily, and Much Less, the Gate Receipts coming in. NO ONE is allowed to Know Their Betting Revenues. When Bad "Hockey" decisions come out to the Public, to the Fans, ( the Lesser of the Focus) that we All, as Fans have to Endure, it's because the Owners satisfied Themselves, Firstly, giving the Betting Money Decision, their Full, and Utmost, and Primary Consideration. Good Employees like Bruce Cassidy, have to be sacrificed, to take away the Spotlight of what the Real Primary Problem is, GAMING. As Betting Revenues continue to Grow and Grow, and Hockey Decisions decline, the Fans for their own sake, should learn to take it all with a grain of salt, it is, what it is.
This team is in trouble. It's on Sweeney's back!! Not many players in the organization you can call the FUTURE OF THE BRUINS. That is Sweeney's fault. Bowness as the next coach?
Imagine holding young players to a higher standard! When the young players that upper management provide lack talent, you instill positioning and technique. You play within a system. Sorry Bruins fans. Your young players flat out suck. Bruce will land on his feet and coach somewhere else. Good luck Bruce.
Sweeney created this mess with over paying for UFA that were already done and horrible drafting, 2015 he passed on Chabot, Barzal and Connor in the first round, second round passed on Aho and Cirelli, traded his 5th round pick which turned out to be Kaprizov, 2017 drafts Vaakainanen over Robert Thomas and then Trent Frederic instead of Debrincat. This team has to get away from looking for that 200 ft player and recognize talent when it's there. Sweeney and Neely need to go and hire competent people from outside the organization, not the next man up crap.

The Bruins ineptitude was not the fault of Cassidy. Look to the top of the ladder. The execs didn't provide the coach with enough good players to go any further than they did. Any hockey enthusiast could see that way back at the start of the season.
Fluto talks out of both sides of his mouth, pretty weak…With one scapegoat move, Sweeney has accelerated Bergeron's departure & now Pastrnak wants out while drafting like an amateur. You don't think coaching candidates are taking note?

Bruins fans, the dreaded rebuild is finally here. Maybe some prospects will pan out or there will be a good trade out there somewhere and the Bruins will bounce back quickly, but some teams take a long time to get through a full-scale rebuild.
The only way to determine if the Bruins made a mistake firing Cassidy, is to wait and see who they hired to replace him.
Wow! Cassidy fired?! Well as a Leafs fan geez this guy won many rounds ( yes could have done a bit better) but we have clown Dubas GM here that can’t win a damn round in 6 years!! We have the worst management here in Toronto we had 3 Cup winner Lou L and we let him go for a nubie Kyle Dubas. And Dubas still has his job!! Bizarro world indeed!
Fire Neely and Sweeney, not Cassidy! Idiocy. More younger players means more losing. The Bruins will go cheap now. Pathetic.
The young Bruins are SOFT, and they are MEDIOCRE (at best!!) They are NOT regular NHL players, and they certainly aren't leading the Bruins anywhere but DOWN! Typical bruins sign a bunch of nobodies and hope they work out. No coach will get this ragtag bunch to produce. You want to win you have to spend money and sign the right players
They were never prepared in the big games.
Mental and hustle lapses at the most critical moments in various playoff series.
Total motivation lapse in 7th game against Blues. They didn't show up.
The intensity and hustle meltdowns were regular frustrations.
The line changes when the puck flow is going towards your own zone drove me crazy.
3 to 4 players skating around with 1 hand on the stick as if one handed sweep check was going to work against a Carolina team taking it to them. Lazy.
That type of play happened to often.
They had one of the most prolific lines in hockey with respect to talent scoring and passing. I dont think Cassidy was able to instill from a coaches perspective the killer instincts needed to drink from the cup.

Must have been cheaper for Jacobs to can Cassidy than Sweeney and Neely, because they have done nothing to improve franchise! No one could have done any better than Cassidy,his record speaks for itself! One of the biggest loads of crap by Bruins organization in years for sure

Cassidy was ok.. but not great.. he had the luxury of riding a best first line in NHL and a really good goalie. Sweeney is worse for sure, but meh.. let him go because as Bergy leaves or recedes, Cassidy definitely will recede.. a few better players likely wont help him… and Sweeney is nowhere near getting any new talent for a long time. I would have liked Torts to make something out of nothing with the players they have now…
The front office totally did Bruce wrong. This is not going to solve ANY of our problems. Sigh.
I don’t pretend to know everything but first reaction was Mistake! They better get someone really good. I’ve heard criticism of Sweeney for years.
Cassidy probably ended up getting the better end of the deal knowing that Boston might only have a 1 year run left. At least in Vegas he has a chance to coach a competitive team a little bit longer.

This season will be tough for whoever coaches the Bruins.
Detroit will challenge for the 4th spot & Buffalo won't be a push over.
And Ottawa & Montreal can't get any worse.
Because he can't win when it counts.
