Remember this series like it was yesterday. Absolute insanity the entire way. Easily top 5 best playoff series ever played in NHL history. Those kings were relentless they played with fire I've never seen before.
When this game first started off. I thought here we go. But then the Kings fought back and woke up. Then at the end of this game Kane was Crying like a Bitch! Still so Awesome! Suck it Blackhawks!
This series and the capitals vs the penguins when sid and ovi had dueling hat tricks were the two greatest series I ever saw. Hockey at the absolute highest level.
That series definitely took years off my life. It should have been done in 5, but the damn Hawks were just too good to roll over, as were the Kings whenever they were behind in that game.
When that game was over, the SCF which was to come almost felt like an afterthought, like “oh yeah, they still need to win 4 more games.” And the Rangers put up a good fight when you consider 3 of those wins in the 5 games were come from behind OT wins.
The fact that Chicago won the cup the year prior to this and LA won the cup the year before made this series so much more intense. This series was awesome.
Blackhawks spent most of the 3rd playing not to lose and just sit on the 1 goal lead. It was inevitable they'd give up a goal at some point with that strategy. They really beat themselves in this one. Kings have definitely fallen off since 2014 making the playoffs just twice and only winning a single game.
These teams combined to win 5 of the 6 Cups from 2010-2015 and this was a worthy battle of two multi-time Cup champions. Kings showed their 2012 title wasn't a fluke while the Blackhawks ceded the throne for a year before reclaiming it the next season.
It's like a fever dream at this point as a Kings fan…we not only won this game, this immaculate Game 7, but two OTHER road Game 7's, including one after overcoming an 0-3 deficit, then won the Stanley Cup on a golden goal. After waiting 24 years for the first one, this one was somehow sweeter than 2012. We slayed the MIGHTY Blackhawks…clearly the other truly great team in the league. The defending champs. That title run…that ring feels like it is worth double somehow.

Real Stanley Cup Finals? Nah, just two 3rd place media darlings that everyone fell in love with with because one referee swallowed his whistle for 8 minutes in OT game 5.
As a kings fan I hate the Blackhawks. But as a fan of the sport I have to admit that they were the most fun team to watch that year. So many great players. Honestly I don’t know a player that Couldnt name on that team.I think they should have won the cup and probably would have swept the rangers if they played them. Hats off to one of the greatest series and 2 of the greatest teams I’ve ever seen battle it out
I just thank god that the Kings beat the fucking rags this year. Maybe the Hawks would've gotten it done as well. Who knows. These two teams had some fucking playoff series'
