Really thought these would be able to score…it's a little concerning
Bowey (d)
Slaf is adjusting to everything now ..He has all the tools to become elite and he isn't a perimeter player but plays all areas and goes to the net often ..I feel for him as he doesn't want to do anything wrong and sometimes seems awkward about it …A couple of goals will get his confidence going …
Arber played a great game as his passing was superb …He showed his all around game last night which was solid ..Marty likes him so he will likely keep him …
Arber is my pick for NHL Rookie of the year 2022/2023 ..
Curious…where's Lane Hutson? I haven't seen or heard about him during this pre-season?
Filip Mesar, Emil Heinamen were the two who stood out to me.
I hope Suzuki's healthy before the pre-season ends, I'd like to get at least 1 glimpse at what a Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield line looks like before the season starts.
Hopefully we have a goalie in the system who will become better than Montembeault or Primeau. Both of those goalies are weak.
Harris needs some serious strength infusion.
I can still remember when Tomas Plekanec broke into the league. His scouting report at the time predicted he'd be no better than a 3rd line center. He surpassed those expectations. Mesar reminds me of Plekanec. Both aren't overly tall, have some speed, make smart plays, etc. There was one play where Mesar was skating towards the net and instead of shooting, he changed direction and shot from a different angle. Reminded me of a play Plekanec would do. That's all positives to me. Other than disappearing in the playoffs, Plekanec was a fun player to watch.
I liked what I saw in Pitlick too. I was disappointed when the Habs didn't give him a QO. It put a smile on my face when they signed him a few days later. He's getting a little older so he's closer to his peak potential than other prospects but we'll see how he plays under St-Louis for a full season.
I agree with everything you said. Heinamen has been playing well since the start of training camp and I'm not sure where he's going to end up with all the forwards signed. I've practically given up on Armia and Drouin. I'd rather they gave a younger guy a chance but I guess the Habs need to give these guys a chance to play to raise their stock to be able to trade at the deadline. I would also like to see more from Slafkovsky but I understand that it's 2 games. How many games did Sidney Crosby go without a goal? A dozen games? We can sit for hours and look up scouring droughts of all sorts of NHL stars. When did St-Louis score in his first NHL preseason games? Etc. I saw Slafkovsky make some nice plays which had potential to be goals or assists. So ya, I'm not worried. BTW Shane Wright didn't do anything spectacular in his first game either. So some people need to chill. lol
Trade Slafkovsky.
Great video Drew…REALLY enjoying ur updates. In regards to Anderson, according to TVA, he skated with his teammates today in a non contact jersey. Hopefully he will be good to go soon😀
They lost. Don't sugar coat it. Preseason is a veiw of the season to come.
Where's Shane Wright?
Good review of the Habs game vs TO. I realize it is only preseason but when 2 D go down early for TO and the Leafs have to use 2 forwards to play D to compensate, I would have expected a heavier pushback offensively by Mtl but unfortunately not. I am glad Mtl is allowing their young prospects to play some preseason games, but I can't wait for the coaching staff to trim this 70+ player roster, and I hope Suzuki comes back sooner than later to play in at least one of them.
