Dude… we don't even need to talk about Makar's defensive prowess because he is clearly and obviously THE BEST defenseman in the NHL by far, point blank period full stop. The thing that makes him the best player in the league is that combined with that level of skill defensively is with his speed, skating ability, hands, shot, hockey IQ etc he could play first line offense ON ANY TEAM IN THE NHL easy and be a 100+ point to guy year in and year out. He will without a doubt go down as if not the best, the second best defenseman to EVER PLAY THE GAME
Seeing Cale Makar just behind mcdavid.. wow. And above mackinnon!.. what a pick up he’s been ya? Damn. And the 9m he’s getting is the best deal in the nhl… well behind Nate’s current deal.
Kucherov reminds me so much of Rantonen,,, when Mikko actually tries he’s amazing look at the end of the Edmonton series , blocking shots diving , scoring , but he can also disappear and put up 2 pts , and you say really I didn’t see him tonight
I love this years team but don’t forget if it comes to Roy VS Kuemper,,, no contest ,,, and Patrick could get in your head no matter who you are ,,, Forsberg as AJ said big difference too,,, imagine him with the rules that we have now , how do you get the puck off of him?,,, the amazing match up would be Forsberg VS Makar that would be mind blowing

Right now-we have best,& deepest blueline in cap history-no doubt in my mind. Unfortunately if Kadri leaves-also 1 spot thats below average at 2c…or just 1 top 6 in general if Mico moved to 2c. Must be fixed before the playoffs. Fortunately-unlike if we were in the way better/deeper east-think we can survive it til the deadline if that's what they choose. I don't believe we will win 4 rounds,if they don't add 1 more adequate top 6 forward-whether Kadri or somebody else. And that doesn't mean Evan Rodriguez,Stasny,or Johnathan Toewes-not good enough. And this doesn't even factor in possible injuries.
I love Compher,& he can maybe fill in for most the reg season-til the deadline. But just not that dude for balance of a playoff run. Never has been-just not skilled enough,or consistent enough long tern.But I believe Sakic,& McFarland know this full welll. They've earned our full trust,& benefit of doubt. Would hate to see Girard go,but might need to eventually go from best ever cap era defense-to merely best in the west today,& still top 2 or 3 in the nhl-worst case.
Some didn't learn from Vegas series,when Kadri was suspended,& Compher/Jost got BADLY exposed/abused.You were asking them to be somebody they aren't-out of desperation. Quality bottom 6 forwards-but not adequate at 2c-through no fault of their own. Not adequate long term top 6 guys-on a true contender-though JT is a very valuable bottom 6 guy.
I wouldn't put MacKinnon over McDavid, but I think what makes him so special is that his line is not going to lose a matchup to any line on any team. He's maybe the best competitor in the NHL.
