  1. i doubt they're going to take someone who is 4-5 years away with their 8th OA pick. With Larkin's age, we don't have that kind of time. Unless they're going to trade Larks and use Raymond/Seider as the core, which would make this rebuild another 3-4 years from fruition

  2. My dream scenario involves a trade (our 8th and Bertuzzi) with NewJersey up to the number 2 pick. Especially If Montreal favors Slafovsky over Wright. Either way you get your franchise an elite immediate impact player at a position of need

  3. Detroit Red Wings 2022 off-season plans:
Steve Yzerman takes on Tyler Myers contract of 2 years at 6 million per season for Vancouver's 2022 1st round 15th overall draft pick.
    NHL draft:
Detroit Red Wings draft at #8 Matthew Savoie
Detroit Red Wings draft at #15 (originally Vancouver's) Rutger Mcgroarty

Steve Yzerman takes on Sean Monahan contract of $6.375 million for 1 year for one of Detroit Red Wings 4th round draft pick, (Colorado's 2022 4th round draft pick.)
Detroit Red Wings 2022-2023 line-up could look like this next season:

    Vrana Larkin Raymond
    Berggren Monahan Andreasson
    Fabbri Suter Zadina
    Rasmussen Veleno Sundqvist
    Gagner, Erne

    Edvidsson Seider
    Walman Hronek
    Oesterle Lindstrom
    Myers

    Nedeljkovic
    Hellberg?

  4. If we’ve learned anything, it’s to not try to guess who the Red Wings are going to pick first. Stevie and his staff see things in players that we simply don’t.
The most shocking pick would be the one everyone expects.

  5. A true positional center is the top priority. Cannot sign a 2C in UFA nor trade for one without giving up a whole bunch of assets.
I think Frank Nazar is about the safest pick with local connections, similar USNTDP career stats as Dylan Larkin.
Plus Gautier may not get past the Flyers as they have gone with USNTDP players before with the #1 picks and North American skaters Cam York and Joel Farabee.

  6. Hi Ken. Hope you’re having a good summer. If the first 7 picks go as you say, Gauthier seems like a solid pick. Do you see the Wings making a trade to get another first round pick again?

  7. Ffs I hope the Wings realize before Draft Day that right handed shots exist and they are a good thing. Lol

  8. I'll be ok with whoever they pick but i would prefer it be a center. Center can't be ignored anymore especially since it will likely take a couple of years before he is ready to center the 2nd line.

What i would do if i was GM of the Wings (for what it's worth) is sign Malkin if he hits the UFA market. Even if you have to pay more than any other team as long is it is not for more than 3 years which is said he is ok with. Trocheck and Kadri are better long term options but they will also want long term deals. I just want Malkin until the center they draft now is ready (buy him some time). Next i would sign 6'6, 235 pounds defensive LD Zadorov. Try and get him for 3 years at most again to buy some prospects time and not be rushed. Next i would try and trade for Travis Sanheim from the Flyers (not sure what it would take) and extend his contract. Nicolas Hague 23 years old, 6'6, 221 pounds is another LD defenseman i would target if i can't get Sanheim or even if i can. He is a RFA and Vegas is over the cap right now and needs to shed a lot of millions just to ice a team. Team this season would look something like this:

    Bertuzzi – Larkin – Raymond
    Vrana – Malkin – Zadina
    Fabbri – Suter – Veleno
    Erne – Rasmussen – Sundqvist
    Stephens, Smith

    Sanheim – Seider
    Zadorov – Hronek
    Edvinsson/Hague – Lindstrom

    Nedeljkovic
    whoever cheap vet

To me that is a playoff team or at least a competitive team. If some prospects beat out players for roster spots then you just trade guys to open up spots. If they are not ready just send or keep them in the AHL for the year and injury callup for depth. That defense would be huge, physical and very mobile. Up front you would have 3 potential scoring line and one checking line. Not going to happen but it is what i would try to do and there shouldn't be any cap problems for a while either.

  9. I feel like they probably take someone who is more NHL ready so that they can contend sooner rather than 4-5 years down the road a la Savoie, Lambert

  10. I could see Bertuzzi for the 2nd pick given he has another year on his contract and where this team will be in its rebuilding stage.. Plus Bertuzzi will be 28 after next season and will command more than the almost 5 million he is now being paid..

We have wingers in the system, but nothing much in the line of top quality Centers, so it does make sense if Wright fell to 2…But I highly doubt Montreal passes on Wright

  11. That wasn't the best description of Cutter. The dude really checks all the boxes for what we need and he isn't a 4-5 years away type of prospect. He's going to play college hockey and honestly recent history shows many of the top picks are one and done or two and done type kids. He possesses offensive ability that a Nazar does not. He's a really solid skater. He's a legit power forward whether he makes the move to center for good or has to stay on the wing, the Red Wings lack size and physicality. He scores from the dangerous places on the ice which is essential to scoring in the NHL. Honestly I think he has the frame to play in the league day one, but with our roster and the state of the rebuild nothing wrong with going to college. He should be one of 4 names on our list for sure. I think the names are Savoie, Kasper, Gauthier and Lekkerimaki. A few dark horses honestly I like are Isaac Howard, Yurov and Kemmell. If one of those D fell I think we take them in a heartbeat same with Cooley.

  12. No way Gauthier is there at 8.

Also, just because you're in college doesn't mean you're 3-4 years out lol. Gauthier is one of the more NHL ready players in the draft. He probably plays a year in college. Two at most.

  13. With Savoie off the board I think you go with Hometown Frank Nazar ranked 5th on Elite Prospects final mock list for 2022. He is the 2nd fastest straight line skater in the draft with an incredible motor and compete through the roof. This would be a major win if he falls to the WIngs at 8

  14. Here is a possibility GLEB TRIKOZOV, Russian C/RW lots of potential risky picking Russians however

  15. Yeah I would be pretty pissed by a cutter guathier selection. Brad lambert, matt savoie, jiricek, osland, or lekkermaki

  16. “With the 8th pick of the 2023 NHL DRAFT, The Detroit Red Wings are proud to select, from the Winnipeg Ice of the WHL, Matthew Savoie”

  17. Cutter Gauthier would be a good pick but I don't think he will be available at eight. Center is a concern and more size and grit for sure but Stevie is going to pull out his crystal ball and make magic happen again🔮

  18. Matt Savoie or Frank Nazar. We need a defenseman so if either of the top 2 slide then we take one
