i think too many people are sleeping on the Caps this year… they only got better in the off season.
Holtby was absolutely elite in the year they won the cup
I have a very similar opinion on the caps as the penguins. Are utterly screwed and bottom feeders in 1-2 years.
I’m excited for the season
Caps are getting younger than people realize. McMichael is a regular in the NHL. Protas just made the team. Fehervary made the team last year and is playing on the top pair. Mantha, Brown, Wilson are all 28. Strome is 25. Snively is 25 and just made the team. Their old players are Ovechkin who just scored 50g and 90pts. Backstrom who won't play all season. Hagelin who is LTIRetired. And Oshie who is on the 3rd line. Expect Washington to use their depth to get through the regular season and then at the trade deadline make a big move for some quality going into the playoffs. If Backstrom does return for the playoffs they'll be a legit contender.
Go back and watch literally anything from the 2018 playoffs Adam and then tell me Holtby wasn't an elite goalie
Missed Oshie Backstrom and Mantha each essentially for half the season and replaced them with AHL guys and had the goaltending issue. Still hit 100 points. Eliminated the distraction of a goalie battle and replaced our injured guys with actual NHL players. I'm on the over on 94.5 myself. So we're not all down on our boys Dangle 😁

Just gonna pencil the caps in for 8th in the eastern conference with around 100 points. Seems like a safe bet.
5:37, I did the math. Holtby didn’t allow a goal for 146:42. As Steve said, he didn’t allow a goal after the 2nd period in game 5 till game 1 in the finals. Absurd.
