Absolutely NO to Strome. He thinks the game too slowly. He was fine in Erie with a slower pace of play but Arizona moved on from him and Chicago wanted to as well but Kane wanted him to stay. With DeBrincat gone and Kane likely to go, Chicago will dump Strome now. He would be terrible for the Leafs.

The leafs got no more cap space after a backup goalie, Sandin and Engvall. We have no choice but to try and move on from Muzzin so we have options.
Colin White could be another steal (despite the MTL rumors). I also like Lemieux, I think it would be awesome to re-ignite the battle of Ontario and have some grit that can take a regular shift in the lineup. Balcers is another interesting option. Lastly, I'm all for bringing Kase and Blackwell back for another season or two.
If we get Strome him an Tavares would be scary slow on a line. He's big but wouldn't mind some size that plays a bit tougher.

I like Milano a whole lot. I could see that working out real well for the leafs. Strome im not too sure about. I dont think they really should get him if hes more comfortable at centre. the leafs already have Matthews, Tavaraes and Kampf. I dont see them paying 3M plus for the third or 4th line centre.
I like Kubalik, . i like him alot more if he will sign at the 1,25 or 1.5.. Id sign him all day long , hes not far off that 30 goal season and hes still in those prime years.
Samsonov I wouldnt mind like you said at the 2-2.5M , anything more then that is pushing it. Thats where the other 25%(1.5M) the leafs could have got retained in the Murray trade. That 1.5M could sign you a Kubalik. or a better tandem goalie.

I like the Aston-Reese and Milano idea.
Other names I would consider would be Helm, Gagner, Balcers, Donato, Blackwell, Highmore, Pitlick (Rem), among others.
I think Dubas is good at bargain shopping and I like the under 2 mil guys. The 2 times last year he tried to go over they bombed.
Strome although I like him, he is too slow and with Tavares that's a no go for me.
For goalies I like Comrie. If Samsonov was cheap sure, but I doubt he would be. I'd maybe take a flyer on Sawchenko who didn't get a QO or trade for a Reimer, maybe Korpisalo (but he hasn't been hot).
That's just my thoughts. I eagerly await tomorrow and the frenzy that will ensue
Strome is a no brainer. He was on a top line that knew where to be and helped out a lot when asked to. He would be a great hired gun to bounce between 2nd and 3rd line.
I'm not against strome I am against him on a line with tavares of his foot speed is lacking but maybe tavares matthews and Nylander then do marner Nylander and bunting or matthews marner and strome and Nylander tavares and bunting something to keep the slower people off the same line… to.orrow is going to be interesting let's see what happens go leafs go
We need to try something different with our role players this year. We have to get guys on this team that are willing to stand up for each other, and play a harder, more complete style of hockey.
Nick Cousins, Colin White, Zach Ashton Reese are must have players in my opinion. Brendan Lemieux for the 4th line. Erik Gudbranson on the back end, 3rd pairing with Gio.
I guarantee you Corey Perry and Pat Maroon are not crashing the net as hard as they were in the TBL series if they know Gudbranson is out there with them.
Strome is Ritchie 2.0.

Hey Stephen…..thanks for the video….ya touched on a few guys…I for one did not guess Engvall when you were talking Kubalik and Kampf line….i thought more someone like Brendan Lemieux or Danton Heinen…..also what are your thoughts on Nicolas Meloche from the Sharks..he's 6'3,205lbs right shooting RD ……hockey elite prospects had a nice write up on him…was wondering if he'd make a good replacement if we move Holl out…he's only 24
Sign- Zadorov 3-4 million, D. Strome and R Strome 2.5 million, Samsanov 3-4 million, M. Domi 1.5 Million and Sandin 2 Million. Trade Kerfoot, Holl, and Muzzin for prospects and draft picks. Something like this, moving parts of course and could trade Nylander, could also sign subban 1-2 million instead of Zadorov. Move Lilly with Sandin and Gino Subban

Tbh I’d take a flyer on kubalik and samsonov but if leafs really wanna move JT to the wing this year then bring stroke aswell

Dubas needs to shore up defence and that goaltending issue is still hanging around despite trading for Murray.I’m not betting the farm he can stay healthy.Samsonov anyone?

Don't like the Murray deal. Should've been 50% retention. Looked at Murray's play after his recall & his save % over 8 starts Jan/Feb was .942 plus a shut-out. After a head shot, in 2 subsequent March road games vs Tampa then Arizona he got lit up (.773 & .742). Didn't play again. If Murray becomes Mrazek 2.0 (who I liked b4 last year), then Dubas has a blind spot for goaltending. I expect better. He hired Keefe now 116-50-19 as coach & the team (115 pts) in my view has improved each year.
Always liked Aston-Reese a lot, as he's very simlar to Komarov who was relentless on the fore-check & D. He & Blackwell at the right $ fit, giddy-up. Despite serious misgivings about Matt Murray, I still believe Dubas can tweak up the roster with low cost players who will compete at a post-season success level. Finger crossed for now.

This is why the Murray deal hurts even more. If dubas could have got Ottawa to retain more and even maybe a team like Arizona to double retain, they could sign all these great forwards. Strome has to be a priority to be on the 2nd line with JT and Willy. Kerfoot can slot onto the 3rd with engvall and kampf. That would be a very solid top 9.
You know what would be cool? If the Leaf's had a goalie that was good and played the entire year. Good luck in the first round loss to Tampa. Again. LMAO!
Your list is really good. Samsonov really highlights how Dubas blundered in not getting enough retention on Murray. If Dubas had done a better job the Leafs would be in a position to pay a little more. As it is now, the Leafs are screwed if Murray can only play 20 or fewer games. We will have a starting pair of Woll and Kallgeren. Creating a uber shut-down line would be an interesting choice. They could give Engvall a chance further up the lineup and see how he does. Dump Kerfoot and add Strome as well. There are still opportunities.

The rest of the forward spots can be filled in by the Marlie guys. I wouldn’t mind putting Robertson on JT’s left for half a season to see how it goes. Sooner or later you’ll need to play him to know what he’s got, and his only fit should be in the top six. No better time to do it than the first half of the regular season.
The remaining cap space should be allocated to defence and getting a 1B goalie.
The goal of this off-season should be to improve defensively. Kubalik and ZAR will help, but D needs more depth and we need someone to share the workload with Murray.
Bud Leafs don’t have enough cap room to sign most of the guys you mentioned here.
