    I hope Leafs find a way to re-sign Campbell….as oppose to do something really stupid like to trade Nylander for Gibson. As for Mikeyev, don’t really want him back …same goes for Engvall and Kerfoot, all are absolutely useless come playoffs. Dubas can’t possibly expect to bring back all middle six forwards and expect a different result in a spring.

    Campbell is probably wanting north of $5 million. So I would pursue Ville Husso as the starter and keep Kallgren as a back up. I'd try and get him for at the most $4 million for 2 years. I'd resign Mikheyev but not for more than $3.5 for 2 years. Leafs have to be in win now mode, so I would trade Nylander for Josh Anderson and Muzzin, Kerfoot and a pick for JT Miller and Luke Schenn. From the arm chair I would try and ice this lineup:

    Bunting-Matthews-Marner
    Miller-Tavares-Robertson
    Mikheyev-Kampf-Anderson
    Case-Engvall-Blackwell

    Reilly-Lyubushkin
    Giordano-Brodie
    Sandin-Liligren/ Schenn

    Husso-Kallgren

    I'd send Mrazek, Simmonds and Clifford to Robidas Island or trade them for magic beans or bargain bin them out of town.

    Mikheyiv’s nickname is soupy and Campbell’s nickname is soup. Only one soup for this team. Mikheyev is fast but can’t pass and his shooting percentage was way above career average this past year. He is likely to regress next year and seems to get injured a lot. He was lousy in the playoffs with two empty net goals and that’s all. Campbell is hot and cold but I don’t know if there is much else out there on the goalie market so we may have to try. Also please give the “trade Nylander” talk a break. He is our playoff points leader for the past two years combined with more limited minutes and worse line mates than Mathews and Marner. We need a 3rd and fourth line that doesn’t consist of small guys that fall down a lot and bigger old guys that are too slow.
