  1. I totally agree in regards to Kap's shot power and accuracy, and the fact that he's squeamish to shoot. However, his lack of goals the last year+ is down to other factors IMO.
He takes forever to shoot, and allows goalies to get square and read his intentions. Even if the release is fast, the goalies already are prepared for what's to come. That's why he shot 8.5% last year.
Well that, and the fact that he didn't have linemates giving him breakaways like year 1, to which he capitalized on brilliantly.

He needs to execute while in full gallop, forcing the goalie to adjust to him. If he just does his patented play of blazing down the wing, curling back and then trying to hover into the high-slot and shoot…well, that's rarely gonna work. He'll get blocked a lot or it'll be a low danger shot. This play also negates a lot of the speed of his on-rushing linemates and the efficacy of the line's attack and zone time.
I'd just like to see him use his speed through the middle more, emulating MacKinnon or someone like that. He needs to find a way to create more space, because his wall game is quite poor.

All that being said, if he only ends up with 10 goals but has a boatload of assists and makes L3 serviceable like they have been so far…I'll take that with a smile. That line was one of my chief concerns going into this season.
Fortunately it's been an excellent start for Heinen and Carter.

  2. How many years has Letang been a Penguin?! He should be leading the D but instead, after a fat contract, he’s been very inconsistent and frankly poor. Did we make a mistake resigning him?

  3. This happens, it's an 82 game season you are going to have your ups and downs, you just have to keep playing and fight through them.
