This was a tough game, it could have gone to either team. As an Oilers fan, it is nice to see the Devils actually good again after many mediocre or bad seasons. Even though they lost, I will say that the Oilers fought right until the very end.

7:09 What the hell is the Edmonton defenseman covering the left blueline thinking? Was the guy asleep? He just lets the Devils Bratt waltz right by him and break in on the goalie. The Edmonton defense continues to be too porous – too many high quality shots being allowed to get thru to the goalie. They need better defensive coaching/structure. Sure, they got those two top scorers, but porous defense is going to sink them again if they don't fix it. With the same personnel, the Islanders went from last in defense to first in Barry Trotz's first year – the solution is coaching/discipline/structure, NOT high-priced personnel. Trotz got the ax after four years because the Islanders lost offense when John Taveres departed and couldn't score. No reason Edmonton can't play better team defense while still having a powerhouse offense.
