@Penguins de Pittsburgh

1. This team can't defend when the heat is on. Petry looks terrible. Takes another bad penalty. The PK is terrible too

  2. Sullivan did say Dumoulin competed hard. I think he’s trying to protect Dumo talking with the press. Competing hard doesn’t necessarily mean playing well. The 3rd & 4th line have not been close to good enough. I did think Drew O’Connor gave them some jump – even though he had a bad turnover on the 1st goal against.

  3. I think that both goalies are playing more tentatively because they can't trust their teammates to play D. Most goaltenders are weaker on high shots. Sadly, with the defense playing so poorly, opponents are getting too much time, to get high danger shots, almost uncontested. It seems like the only way that the Pens defenders know how to defend is to clutch, grab, and hold. They just don't have the foot speed, or mobility, to defend without "cheating" hoping they don't get caught at it.

    I'd wager that the fourth line got as much ice time, late, as it did is that Sully was burning his top two lines out during the first two periods. The third and fourth lines should be getting the bulk of their even strength ice time early in the game, to keep the top two lines fresher later in the game.

    The Pens have zero toughness. Opponents are not afraid to run the goaltender, or take cheap shots at the top players. This has gone on for the last few seasons. In last night's game, Evgeni Malkin and Jason Zucker were the only players who'd gotten a Fighting major last season, the other one still on the roster is Kris Letang. Mathieson's gone, Marino's gone, Boyle's gone, and so are the few others who'd fought last year. Friedman's in WBS.
    And, honestly, that lack of toughness surprises me…knowing the kind of player that Hextall was during his career.

  4. Commenting, again, for the algorithm…

    I think that they are falling back to relying on talent, instead of trusting the system. When they are looking bad, it's because they seem to be a collection of individuals, wearing similar jerseys, instead of a team.
    I think that Hextall needs to do what Rutherford did in Vancouver, have a meeting and tell the team that Sully's not going anywhere, and that anyone of them could go, or get waived, if they continue to underperform. St. Louis' GM just did the same thing, informing the team that Berube's not gonna be the one losing a job. He's a solid coach, and has won the Cup with many of those very same players. Hextall has to do the same for Sully…the man's guided many of those same players to two consecutive Cups.
    But, Hextall also needs to trade some of the "offense only" primadonnas for some big beefy guys who will send the message "You do not check Sid or Geno, or you pay."

  5. just hoping they dont disgrace that jersey/logo theyre wearing tonight
