  1. I am thankful for the entire Team, the Coaching staff and all of the Support staff. The Boys are "trying" and I'm thankful.

  2. Good show as always! With respect to Ned and Hellberg, if Ned does not play the next practice he probably has a nagging minor injury that they want to rest. (Or there is an imminent trade!). I guess we need to watch the next practice on Saturday. If all three are there for practice, they're giving Ned some competition.
As for trends to continue, it looks like the players have bought into Lalonde's system and will be more steady in their play for the remainder of the season as opposed to the wild swings we saw last year. This should mean consistently better defensive play and could translate into a playoff spot, though still unlikely considering the division. And they are crowding the net better and pinching – look for Hronek to have 60 pts this season. Money on that!

  3. Getting Hellberg means "We don't have much confidence in you being our best depth option at this time and you'd better start playing like you're WORTH $3M". It's a shot across the bow to an under performer and will either motivate Ned or piss him off to where he asks for a trade..

  4. Derek Lalonde on the Hellberg pick up:
"(Steve Yzerman's) exact words were, ‘We have a lot of hockey coming up. We have a roster spot. I think it gives us another option if one of our two goalies here goes down.' "

Great show boys! Hope all of our American viewers are enjoying their Thanksgiving weekend!

  5. It can only mean that Yzerman is using his assets wisely. He picks up a goaltender that costs nothing at all to get and he fills a spot that is vacant. All the deals Yzerman has done have been about making the team better, acquiring a goalkeeper is therefore about securing if one of our two breaks down and increasing competition within the team. This gives Yzerman more opportunities if he receives an offer for Ned or Husso, although it is unlikely that he will make such a deal in the first place. But more to secure if any of them break, as we already have many gone. So asset management is what I interpret his approach to getting assets within the organization. Yzerman is an smart GM and he keeps everything close to his chest…

  6. Great show as always.
I agree with what devin said in the comments. That is an exact quote I read as well.
Also all the players we got off free agency this off season has really propelled us further then I would have thought. Husso def has kept us in games we should not have won for sure. A true number one starter.

  7. Grand Rapids goalies: Jussi Olkinuora; 3.71 GAA, .873 SV%. Victor Brattstrom; 4.05 GAA, .874 SV%. These numbers tell the story. No goalie controversy, injury, or trade. Yzerman clearly wants a better 3rd goalie option if an injury occurs.

  8. “Off The Rush” = 2 sentences = you guys should quit saying that. It’s VERY RARE when you actually get it done in 2 sentences. 🤨
