Rielly is an offensive defensman and I put him in the same class as a Tyson Barrie. He plays a soft game and there is nothing wrong with kicking around the idea of packaging him with something else for some needed grit. Leafs are a Tom Wilson away from the cup

Leafs first round exit, Everyone knows the rules
Its really simple. You cannot win a Cup unless you have some big hard hitting guys who will at least protect your big talent. This has been known forever and the Leafs don't have it. They have more talent than anyone but that alone will not win you a Cup. The playoffs of 4 rounds destroys most who even get there. No cup without those guys and it is that simple.

Wasn't a fan of the Murray pick up initially but there is a chance that he has put ultra focus on his performance this year as he is running out of time to get a Stanley and having arguably the best offensive player on your team can give you a great boost in moral. Similarly to how Tavares peaked his performance in hopes that he could make the Canadian Olympic team one final time before his career is over which I believe has benefited his play in this season as well.
Leafs will make playoffs and get out round 1 like they have the last 20 years. But it will at least be another great season! I can't wait!

Always thought Samsonov and Murray were better options than Campbell (nothing against Jack), the question for me was not if they were a better option, but if they could stay healthy to help the Leafs.

Short answer is a resounding NO! Murray has been terrible the past few years, and Samsonov not much better – you go with the trend which is downhill for both. And Murray's injury history tells you you can't trust this guy. Most likely will be injured come playoff time. And Leafs are playing way over their heads, which will even out the rest of the year. Sorry to burst your collective Leaf-flavoured bubbles.

Bith goalies are playing great, no question. That said, come playoff time, everyone and their mother are going to shove Matthews into those goaltenders and have no one to answer to for it. Both goalies have already been hurt this season and one of them was on a penalty shot. I don't think Kallgren is gonna do it. So I'm really not overly excited.

Leafs need a good physical defensive defense man. Or they will never go deep in playoffs or win cup. They mostly have offensive defense man that will get pushed around in the playoffs.
If Rielly spent more time in front of his own net, instead of behind the opponent's net, it would be an improvement. With the forwards the Leafs have, they don't need a defenseman up ice all night. Just get the puck out, and let the forwards take over.
Time to believe in the goaltending? Yes, as much as that believe in the cohesive unit we have. Every player on the bench is bringing a degree of accountability that proves we belong in the final 16. If Morgan Reilly is healthy for the playoffs our backend should be prepared. Leaving Muzzin and his 5.625 off the roster maybe the answer, bring in a high end forward, Kane and or Toews 25 percent, Horvat 50 percent if available. Good luck Leafs the sooner the x is beside our name, the sooner we can begin preparing for the playoffs.🐣

Who would have thought last summer when Dubas picked up these guys that they'd both hit? Best case scenario, meet the Leafs. Though only limited sample, Murray may well be that guy who wins the close game and Leafs finally gets past the first round.
