  1. Don't think of it as "tanking", think of it as allowing your team to give valuable ice time and experience to the younger players in the system. They'll just happen to be playing against real NHL teams, but the experience will be worth it! 😁

  2. They should've started a rebuilt last season, starting with trading Miller instead of resigning him.

  3. We don't need another forward in Van, we need defensemen! Our salary cap is eaten up by long term forward contracts and we can't even sign our captain. Great young player but do you get a Caulfield/Suzuki or a LafreniereHoglander at the pro level? If you're smaller you have to produce quickly because you can't be converted into a power forward on a third line. Tanking is an awful practice anyway…

  4. This isn't even a discussion. They're just not bad enough to get into the mix.

  5. I hope Bedard either goes to Anaheim to re-unite with McTavish or to Vancouver to re-untitle with his hometown. Don’t want to see him go to Chicago or Columbus. Although tbf, a Laine-Bedard-Gadrau line in Columbus would be pretty sick as well.

  6. They can literally stop showing up for their games and still finish ahead of the Ducks and Flyers

  7. Yes, how often do generational players come along. Also, suck for a couple of season and then getting a generational player is worth it. Your chances of winning anything greatly improves with players like that.

  8. I honestly don't think it's possible at this point in the season. They look like they're going to finish 20th-25th, so they won't have a chance at either the playoffs or at winning Bedard. They would need to have an abysmal record from here to have a chance at Bedard, or they'd need an epic run to make the playoffs. I don't think even trying to blow up the team would give them any chance at Bedard, either.

  9. It will take more than just Bedard to get the Canucks back on track. They need to bring in some other pieces to bolster up their defense.

  10. Scoring is way up. Should be based on current peers. How many 40 goal scorers or 90 point men are there going to be this year? It's not the rarefied air of past decade.

  11. Should they???
That's like seeing a 12-year-old kid with 700 lb of lead tied to his ankles on the bottom of a lake. Would you ask if that kid "should swim or drowned.."
it's obvious he's going to drown no matter what. It's not a choice of whether or not the Canucks are going to tank. They are tanking already. They're not choosing to tank .. they just can't do anything else. This team is a joke and everyone here in B.C. is fed up with them. Weve gotten a different form of stupid from the " new and improved " management. Where we used to sign anyone for 2-3 times what they were worth, we just now do NOTHING AT ALL. We trade for bottom 9 players and act like weve accomplished something. The ownership needs to trade most players for prospects and fire everyone. If they cant commit to fixing this team… Sell the damn thing because the people of B.C.are sick of your crap.

  12. Tbh they should follow the Blackhawks lead they seem to be doing it right. Trade for assets asap.

  13. the covid debacle was a prime oppurtinity to restructure the roster over that 2.5 year period, but vancouver decided to peak in the bubble instead.

  14. Canucks are stuck in a bad spot. If they want to make a run for the playoffs, they would have to re-sign Horvat and CAN'T trade him to recover assets. If they tank badly, there's no guarantee they're going to get the 1st overall pick. There's no cap space to do anything to change the team in any way.

  15. Don’t throw your games ever for a player. It’s a scam for the fans and if you really don’t want to win, put some backup players in, but make sure they give it their all.

  16. This tanking thing needs to go. Perhaps the lottery should be adjusted so that any of the bottom 10 teams have an equal chance to pick first.

  17. Would be great for a Canadian team to get bedard…many teams have done this before and on purpose. Crosby was a big reason Pittsburgh absolutely stunk the year before 😂

  18. numbnuts is appalled the nucks would dare tank for a franchise superstar player, but he's all in when his former team does it 5 years out of 8 and the Oilers still won't win a cup. Yakupov, RNH, Nurse, McJesus… you tried and tried again till you got it right

  19. Given the Canucks almost always get knocked down draft position in the lottery, not much point in tanking.
