Kyle Dubas: Hello PK. This is the General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Would you be interested in taking a team friendly contract and join us?
PK: How Much?
Kyle Dubas: 750K for 2 years
PK: NO!
Kyle Dubas: How about 900K for 2 years and I’ll throw in your own Radio Talk Show and a Part in a new Reality TV Show on a Local Channel?
PK: Let me think about it. I’ll get back to you.
need to sign PK so 20 of the 100 reporters can be in his stall instead of 100 of them asking Mathews about his remaining contract!🍻🍻🍻🍻
EK65 had a really good year
I never hit or ever play physical Brodie you think is a top 50 d ?
Not when playing in the physical playoffs.
Florida may not have improved, may have even regressed, for next season. However, over the long term the trade was a good one. There were rumors that Huberdeau wanted to go back to Montreal. There is no guarantee that he was staying. Coming off a great season he would likely want term and a big payday at 30 years of age. That would be a bad investment (especially when Barkov is signed long term) for a team that could contend for the next six or seven years easily. Tkachuk's age fits that window perfectly.
Weegar, for whatever reason, they don't seem to value him. It was reported they were willing to trade him to the Leafs for Johnsson and Dermott. So they valued him at a cap dump and a 7 D.
For Calgary, if they can't extend Huberdeau and Weegar, the shine comes off that trade. I guess they could retain and trade them to a contender with money retained. If the Leafs traded for Huberdeau, double retained, they would have a guy who could be played with Matthews freeing Marner up to play with Tavares. That is something they don't have and desperately need and the cap hit would be tiny.
Next season, the trade may look suspect, but they have Hornquist coming off the books the year after, and they have some young D men who have to develop. Add in a free agent or two that is just looking to get a ring and a little increase in the cap and long term it looks pretty good for them.
I feel a forgotten factor is that there are 2 defence men on each pairing. This isn’t like centers with one on each line. 1-64 is top pairing. A ranking list should probably be taken into consideration with that in mind.
That Calder statement was a joke right?
Cos Seider more than deserves it.
He is amazing. If you don't know that, you should probably watch some hockey some time.
leafs need 2 good defencemen now. they may not make the playoffs
Leafs have definitely regressed
