Tocchet will only operate as another 'Yes' man, simply regurgitating the same clown shit out of the upper management and ownership's offices. The Canucks had Trevor Linden, one the greatest leaders in NHL history and beloved by the fan base, acting as a General Manager and he left; what does that say about culture?
I've teetered on the fence many times over the years with regards to my support of this team but this, the treatment of a well tenured and beloved coach, this is the reason I want nothing to do with this team.
Forget tanking so we can have a 25% chance to get Connor Bedard, the Canucks need to tank so ownership starts losing money. Season-after-season of finishing out of a playoff race and out of draft contention is what this team needs and ownership deserves.
The way it was handled was pathetic and I hope it doesn't deter future free agents from wanting to come here.

Neither Rutherford nor Patrick leaked anything about firing Bruce beforehand. It was the media with their "speculations" whom told us for days. You can't keep it zipped. It's your Ego! So don't blame management alright?
Heard Tocchet was hired 4 weeks ago. What a disgusting organization. I hope NHL players add the Canucks to their no-trade list. No offense to Canucks players but they don't deserve that. The Canucks Organization do.

As a Canucks fan, please tell me how many times in the history of the NHL have fired a coach that has been so loved by the city. That they were cheering his name after a loss. That a city has so much respect.
Canucks management and ownership has to be so embarrassed at this. This is horrible and makes me feel ashamed to be a Canucks fan.

Absolutely shameful the way Rutherford went about this. From him talking about how he didn't like the way training camp went, to not trusting Boudreau's system, to the Horvat contract extention to now exposing the worst kept secret in hockey. No president of hockey operations should ever be in front of the camera creating tension for the team. You work behind closed doors and it should stay that way. Fired the wrong person!!
Bruce is a nice guy, but the team lost while playing his system. Scoring a lot of goals is fun, but defence wins games. The fans liked Bruces colourful personality, but coaches get fired all the time. Would he have been as popular if his name was different ? "Joe there it is" wouldnt have the same ring to it. Bruce was finished as a NHL coach when he was fired 3 years ago, so he should be thankful he had a last hurrah. Im sure that he does very well teaching children at his hockey schools. Nobody should feel sorry for a guy getting paid $2 million for something he would do for free. Some owners can have a lot to do with how a team operates and performs, anyone whos not familiar with Harold Ballard and the Maple Leafs should google him. As far as Aquilini goes, hes willing to overpay second rate multimillionaire managers, hockey players and coaches but shortchanges migrant workers. Some people feel that as long as he is the owner, then the Canucks will remain at the bottom.

I hated Rutherford in Hartford
Tocch is one of the smartest players I have ever seen. He never had the speed / size / shot to put up the numbers he did. A few years ago I rewatched the '87 Canada Cup and it was unvelievable the amount of little things and DETAILS Rick Tocchet brought to that team. Massive unsung hero in '87 and Details is what the Canucks are lacking

Just what the Canucks team needs . An ex player turned coach. With no history of being a successful coach anywhere . Might as well say your good bye to Tocchet now because he won't be with the Canucks this time next year . I am not sorry they dumped Bruce , but the way it was done was not professional at all . Mickey Mouse management will not sell tickets .
Rutherford/Allvin did everything needed for the team to tank so that the coach can be blamed and fired and the core of the team replaced with players that Rutherford likes. This is only the beginning of further "consolidation" of the organization by Rutherford. Aquilini should go to the players' bench, get some smelling salt and become alert.
It's not the coach. It's literally the players.
Vancouver is a soft, woke city and that is shown in the players they recruit as well.
I find it amusing how the media exaggerates nearly everything. LeBrun tweets that the canucks are spending 7 million on coach salaries. When in actuality it's more like 6 since Tochets contract is prorated for this season. Boudreau and Green come off the books at seasons end. 6 a year still sucks. But there's no need to create more negativity around this team.
Fired a top notch coach and treated him like garbage for a hack like Tocchet. Brilliant.
