It's amazing how fast Kulich has risen. He's now the major trade piece in every Buffalo trade rumor out there lol. I am not one to put much stock in the World Juniors but something tells me he's going to be a gem in the NHL and is a non starter for Kevyn Adams. Would love to have Meier but Buffalo needs to be careful adding too many big contracts too soon. They got Cozens coming up this summer too.

I don’t like the Sabres trade idea from San Jose perspective. I’d want Jack Quinn back. I also want a first round pick and a B level prospect.

Buffalo dosen’t need him
Meier to Sabres? I could see that happening, but Sabres won't give Joker and certainly not Kulich. Not only the priority of the Sabres is to add a dman but one who is a LHD one, so they would need to make another trade if they trade Joker to get Benning. Also Kulich I think is untouchable. He is their best forward prospect. I could see them moving Savoie or Ostlund, but not Kulich.
I'm all for getting rid of Bailey but Jesus that's a huge overpay!

Toronto isn't gonna give up Kies, not saying the trade makes no sense just that it won't happen. I feel like they will shed cap somewhere else with jerfoot and bring I'm Duclair. Cause to give up knies for a rental would be to stupid. Especially cause they are gonna need good players on cheap contract and elcs for a couple years and they have that in spades rn

Any Meier trade starts with either your first or second best prospect, an unprotected 2023 1st… then you're gonna have to throw in extras like a solid NHL player, another prospect or two and maybe even a 2nd or 3rd from the next two drafts.
If your a team like the Devils, Carolina or Buffalo you can't try to nickel and dime the sharks in the trade. You gotta bite the bullet. Making this trade could take your team from a good playoff team to a great one that opens your cup window for the next few years.

As for the package, I think you are bang on. Maybe it gets outbid but I think Knies would be the guy the sharks would be wanting as he could potentially replace Timo in years to come (he won’t be quite as good but he should become a top 6 power forward)

The Devs don’t have many big, strong puck carriers on the team. Meier is exactly the kind of player they need.

As a Dev fan – if it’s Holtz Shari and Bahl plus the 1St… game on. Very fair for both teams and I don’t think that can be matched. As long as Fitz can talk signing him long term now (hoping he’s doing it now) game on. We need his size up front.
It's interesting you make the trade proposal you did for the Isles because the only piece in that package touched in the Horvat trade was the 2023 1st. Instead, it could be a future 1st. I am also surprised that Nemec has not been brought up in Timo Meier mock trades with New Jersey. Buffalo is an interesting fit. Not sure how committed they are to make a blockbuster like this, but maybe they do it.
However, the Rangers are a major omission. I would be surprised if the Rangers didn't come out of this deadline with either Kane or Meier.
