Thank You Adam, someone with some common sense! Dylan (for the 18th time) isn't worth 9 million. He's a 2c maybe 3c on a really good team. This is a player living in delusion about his current value. Heck, Yzerman offering 8.5 was generous as hell, and Dylan declined. He's really worth 7 .5 million. Larkin is taking full advantage of the Wings rebuild in a bad way. It's sad to say the least. If he wants to really be here he would have taken the 8.5 because he realizes that's his true value NOT what he wants

And overpaying players is what set the Wings back. Ask Holland? He's the reason Wings went into a full rebuild and still in one

  2. “ you are setting the team back” the team gets set back even more with a 9 M contract. Than if Larkin walks. Let em walk. Aint hurting a thing

  3. OMG! I actually 150% agree with Adham Beydoun 🤣!! Being a #2 center playing as a #1 on a less-than-average team doesn't make one an elite *NHLer*!!! …and there is no way I overpay simply because it may stunt the rebuild – newsflash – this rebuild is already at a snail's pace! I hope he stays but only for what he's actually worth.

  4. Marco kasper can be a lesser version of Larkin and be that legit 2 center so we could let Larkin go and just stay really bad for a couple more years and try to land that legit 1 center

  5. McDavid, Matthews and Barkov are the only centers better than Larkin, from Adham’s list

  6. The issue is Larkin is a great 1C for this team right now, but he will not be performing anywhere near $9m contract level in 3-4 years when this team is actually competing. he will be on the second line most likely. It also doesn't make sense how the $8mx8yrs offer to him $64m is still more money than the $9mx7yrs offer he would get in FA $63m yet he still won't take it.

  7. I'd rather get a king's random and restart the rebuild than overpay for 8 years. Remember, he will be 35 when it expires. Kenny Holland would have given him 9.5.

  8. Are you new to negotiation? You don't ask for what you're expecting to get. He asked for 9 which means he's expecting to get 8.4, 8.5

  9. Finally someone that understands…you dont pay what ifs..you pay what have you done…larkin for one does not .ake his teammates better….id pay larkin 9 mill a year if who ever his linemate was looked great…and they havent…which means hes a 2 c that relies on others to make plays…a 1c makes anyone look good

  10. Lark is a 2nd line center on any contender at best. I would trade him; I would hate to see him leave but he isn't that guy lets be honest.

  11. Often public postering is a negotiation tool. It is possible that in the next few weeks, Larkin abruptly re-signs for a reasonable amount. I have been skeptical of these sort of rumors ever since October 1996, when Scotty Bowman publicly told us all that the proposed deal with the Whalers for Shanahan was dead (the deal then happened the next day).

But yes, as much as I would hate to see Larkin leave, at the end of the day the overall rebuild is more important than any one player. Paying Larkin $9 million per season is a bad idea, because then everyone else will also expect more money, putting us into salary cap problems within a few years. If they can't get Larkin re-signed before the trade deadline, then they should trade him.

As for public postering, two can play at that game. It is possible that the team could make it publicly known that they are entertaining trade offers for Larkin, as a negotiation tactic to get him to take their last offer if he wants to remain a Red Wing. I am not making a prediction, but I wouldn't be surprised if a trade appears immanent, and then Larkin and the team suddenly agree on a reasonable contract.

  12. I would trade Larkin Detroit can’t be impatient now they have almost everything the top teams are changing the guard just wait a couple more years max
