Love Smid, and I love Holland. People who shit on Holland and want him fired should cheer for the Red Wings. Oilers has been in the playoffs 4 years in a row and 2nd in the division 4 years in a row and went to the conference finals. The team is much better this season and much much better after the trade deadline.

Holland has been very good. The Hyman signing, RNH extension, Kane signing last year and re-sign, Ekholm trade, bottom 6 forward depth. Campbell was rough year 1 here certainly but it's still only year 1 and goalies are voodoo. Wouldn't even surprise me if we are talking about Campbell this time next year as a top 10-15 goalie. Look at Korpisalo, Samsonov, Gustavsson this season vs last season as examples. If the only thing you have to say is about a goalie and overpaying a top pairing D in Nurse you don't really have anything to complain about.
Ladislav Smid will always be one of my favorite Oilers along with Hemsky, Smyth and many many others lol
I feel like teams who pick up the low key guys like bjugstad are the ones who win the cup, and the teams who get the top end guys like patrick kane are usually the ones who fall short. I could be wrong but that's just how it feels to me
I think the biggest mark on holland is the nurse contract and the whole duncan keith and black hawks bebacle which allowed them to sign seth at 9 and inexplicably ruin the defensive market.
personally Id actually say him saying broberg is untouchable was a joke aswell you have season careers out of a shit ton of guys everyones pushing nows the time if you have to sell half the farm a bit and to me broberg is just ok like hes not amazing by any stretch and hes not shit but saying that hes untouchable 🤡

Holland absolutely knows what he’s doing. He was able to get Calgary to take Lucic . Granted Neil did not work out the greatest, but hey he moved Lucic! Some really nice moves this year that made such a huge difference with Ekholm and Bjugstad.. Man unreal how amazing those two moves have worked out. Oh and don’t forget about him moving Jesse P and that 3 Million dollar price tag! Signing Kane, getting Hyman long term, Kulak extension, Skinner new team friendly deal. I mean, just well done from Holland!

I always get a kick out of arm chair GM's who continually bash a person. I could see PC at the end as he really messed up (purposefully I believe) but prior to his last year he had a vision of making us bigger and tougher and he did. Holland's vision was also to make us bigger but faster and to shore up defense and bottom 6. That does take time including development your players (like Mcleoad, Desharnier, and Skinner) as you can't get everyone in a trade – no NHL SC champion does that. Problem is the armchair GM's spend too much time playing EA NHL ## with cap off and force trade on lol
