Lilgegren and Brodie have been their best defenders except for Brodie's occasional mistakes. Simmonds Gustafsson Liljegren Rielly Jake McCabe Luke Schenn and Conor Timmins would be the players I would have in for the last game.
Leafs need to go watch the TV show Shoresy on repeat until it sinks in for them. Being a top 10 player in the league skill wise doesn't mean anything in the play offs if you can't put your heart on your sleeve and throw your body around. It comes down to Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares they all love to win, but none of them hate to lose. Shoresy will show them the way, they have to hate to lose 100x more than they love to win.

What's amazing is very few, if any, Maple Leafs fans are giving Florida any credit. The Panthers are aggressive on the forecheck, creating turnovers, then working well as a team with pretty damn impressive puck movement (latest example the game winning goal last night) to bury the chances that they get. Sure, Bob's playing out of his mind, but he's also been getting paid $10M a year for years to do that — so it's nice that he's finally justifying his cap hit.
I'm a Panthers fan. Also a long suffering Leafs one. From the morons chanting "we want Florida" instead of respecting a team that won 3 in a row to knock off the team with the greatest regular season in history to this ongoing nonsense that it's all aboot the Leafs not doing whatever and nothing to do with Florida finding their game at the right time is just a really bad look. Geez, remember when the Tkachuk deal was announced? The reaction in Calgary and elsewhere was overwhelmingly "those idiots down there sure got fleeced." Well, look who rose to the top when needed most while the Flames didn't even make the playoffs. And don't give me this nonsense that Florida barely squeaked in because Pittsburgh collapsed. They won games down the stretch, including getting 3 out of a possible 4 points against the Leafs — after a regular season where they were learning a new system under a new head coach, had numerous goaltending issues — including a kid who had to leave the team with substance abuse issues, and dealt with stretches with various anchors in their roster missing games due to injury.
I would say what is more glaring is the foot speed. Florida is skating circles and entering the zone with ease. Lafferty does't even seem fast compared with a bunch of panther players

Seems to me like everyone on the leafs roster just expects someone else to do all the hard work, that's all there is to it. They're all talented players that expect to get carried by the other talented players. None of them give 100% because none of them have ever had to give 100%. No one's willing to step up to do the hard work because they're all a bunch of softies who are afraid to get hurt.
Imagine the draft picks you could get trading the big 4… Why not do it? Bc ownership knows that’ll hurt the bottom line next season.
I can't believe no one is pointing out the obvious – you guys up north are supposed to know so much about hockey and Kypreos was an NHL player! But the most obvious thing is Florida has a SQUEAKY CLEAN NEUTRAL ZONE to ice capade through at top speed totally unmolested. That's not just about physicality, that's about coaching adjustments and Maurice has buried Keefe there in game. If you watch the games, before almost every Florida goal is a result of a totally unmolested from blue to blue zone entry.

That's a catastrophic failure of coaching on Keefe's part, I'm sorry. The 1977 Canadiens played a left-wing lock in the playoffs with a lead. You don't need a lot of physical players. Actually, I think the Leafs have as many or more than the 77 Habs did, it's just their scheme was always sound. Lafleur was coached to play in all 3 zones, ESPECIALLY THE NEUTRAL. Scotty Bowman wouldn't have it any other way.

I haven't seen this take yet. But the Panthers wear teams down during the game AND series. I think this was a key during the Bruins series and why They looked worse as the series went on and why Toronto seems to be playing worse. The physicality is taking its toll.
Its a reason, I believe, for the massive turnovers and mistakes that are being made against them. Its physically and mentally draining and dame after game wears players down.
I think a long series, going forward, will always favor the Panthers, and why they will never be out of a game or series

A lot of credit to Maurice. During the season Florida played a very lose style of hockey. They actually out scored the Leafs this year, but allowed a lot more goals. But as soon as the Play-offs started, the coach threw a switch, and the team totally adapted their game to shut down the Bruins and the Leafs. That is impressive coaching,
TO fans should hope the leaf players heard Kyper tonight.
