I doubt capital gains tax issue is "stumbling block" wrt Senator's sale. There r many ways to "defer" and/or "avoid" capital gains without buyer involvement, e.g. trusts / annunity / "residue" streams (literally hundreds of ways),. Anti-dilution is far more likely, as that would be nightmarish to price in / unwind for any future trans.
Something not mentioned much is the Vegas run the first year was seen a bit of a healing for the city after the shooting tragedy. The VGK gave the city something to cheer for. The VGK embraced the city as much as the city embraced the team. It was a tough loss that first year but this year has only built on Vegas Strong.
