Imagine a Forsberg – Duchene – DeBrincat line

This just feels like we’re gonna get some Canuck players

The Trotz era is going to be so damn fun and I am HERE FOR IT.

This team is basically full of wingers at this point and every player listed in the article is also a winger. I think this team’s real weak spot is down the middle with: Glass, Joey, Novak, Sissons, Parsinnen as our center depth, in probably that order. I don’t see either Glass or Joey being good enough to be a true 1C on a playoff caliber team. (I really don’t see Novak or Pars being good enough either, if anyone thinks that is an option).

From a rebuilding perspective: If we could flip Duchene for Laf, that would 100% be my first choice. If we retain salary or give them a pick, who cares, that’s a solid rebuilding move. Rangers just saw Kane and Tarasenko’s deals expire and they’ve got more than enough room for another vet with a solid scoring pedigree. Especially one they can get for cheap.

If we’re going for it: Keller and DeBrincat are both solid choices, with Keller being my heavy favorite as he’s less AAV, his contract won’t expire when he’s in his mid-30s, and he’s shown he can do it while on a bottom-feeder team. He would be much more expensive though.

I’m not really a fan of bringing on a 2nd line winger. We’ve got systemic problems that a 2nd line scorer won’t solve, the AAV on both those guys is over $6m, and they take up a spot that someone like Tomasino or Evangelista could potentially fill. If we’re not going to tank, I’d rather bring in a first line player and push Fors or Duchene down the line-up to play with one of our kids.
