1. MAILBAG QUESTION: When will GMs and owners adjust the salary cap so that it adjusts for different tax rates? ie. Canada vs. Florida?

  2. Brian Elliott is old (38, but scheduled to turn 39 in April) for an NHLer although there’s no doubt the Leafs could use more goaltending depth at the NHL level, whether or not he gets to play for the Leafs, with:
    – last season:
    — Matt Murray too often unavailable during the regular season due to lengthy injury stints
    — Samsonov a good regular-season goalie but a sieve in too many playoff games
    — Joe Woll having yet to play in 10 or more regular-season games also, between last season such games and playoff one, he played 11 (7 regular-season ones)
    — Kallgren, Who is Elise let walk early this month via unrestricted free agency, too often a sieve at the NHL level even if not with the Marlies or Newfoundland Growlers
    – 4 goalies on entry-level contracts, all of them currently in the minors, with Petruzzelli the only one so far to have dressed for an NHL non-preseason game

I look forward to watching the episode in question, hopefully later this Wednesday afternoon Eastern Time.

  3. Rinduculous rule I would love a rule change!: I hate how soft and stupid the slashing call has gotten…. hear me out pls…. Back in the day, hockey players were trained to hold onto their sticks tight… or their was good chance someone would knock the stick out of your hands using their stick….
The only time slashing was ever called was when a player missed the other players stick, and made contact with the player. Nowdays it's changed where refs are calling players slashing sticks & occasional breaking sticks, and the way we used to play hockey, slashing sticks was aloud, and it was a fun to play and watch aspect of the game that I truly miss…. Slashing a stick should never have been a penalty!!! I grew up playing & watching hockey, and the changes and misinterpreted ruling has made this ridiculous… every time a stick breaks, someone is getting a ridiculous penalty!! Make slashing the stick OK again please!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Ah yes, in true Maple Leafs fashion, going after aging veterans who are way past their prime. I thought it was just Dubas who wanted to keep trying this despite it never working out for him, but why not keep it going now that he's gone?

  5. You gotta keep Woll because he can’t go to the Marlies without going thru waivers. Although it would be just like the Leafs to lose Another young goalie they drafted.

  6. Murray’s no trade clause? It’s the amount of games he can play without getting a boo boo.

  7. Dubus biggest mistakes was signing players to to high of contracts and taking mat Murray and letting good players walk for nothing and trading Kadri he made a lot of mistakes so glad he is gone but thstd what you get from a rookie gm the core was already drafted they would of made playoffs with any gm. He did not do i good job i don't see why people don't realize that

  8. Toronto is cursed. No if's No but's. They qill never win again in my life time. Get shannie outta there. Like shannie and all but he screwed up royally when he kept dubas and left the rest go..lou or hunter was the choice but they wouldve given push back shannoe didnt want. Its over in toronto till direction is changed.
