  1. One of RJ's best calls for me was a mid-season game in 1985 (1/8/85 to be exact) against the Hartford Whalers. The Sabres were down 4-2 entering the final minute of play. Dave Andreychuk scored with about 30 seconds left to make it 4-3. Then, Mike Foligno (Marcus's father) scored the tying goal with less than 10 seconds remaining to tie the game, which is how it ended. I don't know what was louder, the Aud crowd going bonkers on the tying goal, or RJ's call of that goal which could still be heard over the din of the crowd. I watched the game on TV, which was Ted Darling's call at that time. I immediately turned on the radio to catch the post-game highlight show (hosted by Brian Blessing, also RIP) to hear RJ's call. I remember Blessing teeing up that final goal by saying "Hang onto your hats", and RJ did not disappoint. I wish that highlight was still available because it is well worth hearing it again. RIP, RJ, and thanks for all the memories.

  2. Marcus is one of few players from previous versions of the sabres that I wish was still here.
