Unbelievable, There’s no way [insert defenseman you have a bias towards] shouldn’t be on here

  2. Holiday_Use_2980

Top 3 look good, after that it’s a bit of a mess

  3. zcohen17

Ready for some completely rational, level-headed takes

  4. Ginger-Beefcake

All of these guys can defend except one, somehow he won the best defenseman trophy.

  5. ZakaryOnTheAttackary

Doughty in the top 50 is laughable, man is a pylon now.

  6. Old_kernel

If this is actually a right now list EK should absolutely be top 3

  7. cornbatch69

Hampus lindholm @15 ???? Morgan Riley getting disrespected hard here.

  8. gottapoop

The only thing I’d take offense to with this list is Slavin being way to low.

  9. Shiny_Mew76

Rangers fan. I’ll happily take Fox at #2

  10. ZegrassyKnoll

3 former Ducks on this list… This is fine!

  11. Josefstalion

It’s a shame Jared Spurgeon never got the recognition he deserved during his prime years

  12. Godlikelobster01

Imagine paying 9.5 for a defenseman not in the top 20 lmao

  13. Erdrick68

Fox should be number over Makar simply because this list undervalued Chin.

  14. james-HIMself

Karlsson was both good defensively and offensively he should be higher and Mcavoy+ Dahlin could make cases to be higher

Edit: he was good offensively. sorry.

  15. ManWithBag15

Morrissey way too high IMO. He had a great season but it’s still just 1 season. This season was the only season he’s ever had votes for the Norris.

  16. Brodieboyy

Happy to see Miro get the recognition he deserves, he’s so young still but so good in all areas of the game

  17. Evil_Knot

I’m not even a Preds fan but Josi should be 2nd behind Makar. Spurgeon not being on this list is criminal.

  18. colorbalances

One of the fewer more egregious takes I saw from THG was not having Devon Toews even in the top 30 defenseman in the entire national hockey league. Glad to see him here

  19. RabbiGoku

Are Brodin and Spurgeon not considered two of the best defensive defensemen in the entire league? I get it, the guys listed are powerplay quarterbacks. Can we actually talk about denfense, though?

  20. Boston-Nolan

I don’t necessarily agree with McAvoy’s placement but I get it, offensively he’s just not on that level of most of these guys even if the rest of his game is debatably the best in the league. He’s probably the most well rounded D-man not named Cale Makar, and defensively and Physicality wise he’s second to few if any. Offensively he’s just meh, he could probably put up 65 in a strong year, usually good for 50ish, so I get the placement.

I’m glad Lindy is getting his flowers, if McAvoy didn’t exist he’d be a ppg two way minute munching monster, but even in a smaller role he’s killing it.

  21. Miro getting respect finally, yessiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiir

  22. Reddititfortat

I think mcavoy and Pietrangelo should be lower. Hamilton and Hughes higher. Otherwise it’s fine

  23. Primal_Directive

The other 9.5mil defender isn’t on here, so I can relax about our 9.5mil defender not cracking the list either 😌

  24. poodletown

Omg a list that doesn’t have Mo Seider. I am so affected by someone’s opinion. They are wrong.

  25. Nucksfan23

Not a horrible list but is Pietrangelo really a top 10 dmen still?

  26. Kestralisk

Good to see toews get the attention he deserves. Also nice to see Hughes still rated highly

  27. Medschoolmonkee

Disrespectful to Jacob Slavin having him that low.

  28. TheCBDeacon

How is the guy that won the award for top defenseman down in 8th?

  29. Loose_Device_5302

If Burns wasn’t 130 years old I would rank him higher. No real complaints otherwise.

  30. stakeandlegs

So you don’t have to be good a defense to make the list

  31. tcblack

This is an absolute disaster after the top 3 holy.

  32. maxwellbevan

If anyone is curious here is 2022 and how much their ranking changed to this season’s. Seems like their top 5 are nailed down and then everything else is mostly a crap shoot year to year for their rankings

    1. Makar – no change
    2. Hedman -2
    3. Josi -2
    4. Fox +2
    5. McAvoy -1
    6. Letang – not ranked
    7. Ekblad – not ranked
    8. Toews -5
    9. Carlson – not ranked
    10. Heiskanen +7
    11. Seider – not ranked
    12. Hughes +2
    13. Slavin -1
    14. Rielly – not ranked
    15. Theodore -5
    16. Werenski – not ranked
    17. Doughty -1
    18. Dahlin +11
    19. Pietrangelo +10
    20. Burns +4

  33. OfficialDaiLi

Where the hell is Jack Johnson? Smh

  34. SumGreenD41

I’m biased but letang should be on here at the end

  35. reecewagner

Has Sergachev really ascended to this level?
