As a buy in to the partnership? That’s ridiculous. I believe all but a few teams aren’t even worth that much.

I wonder if $2b included a rink and not just the fee. The senators sale included the Canadian tire Center, which as a development lot is probably worth quite a bit should the team move into the city.

2b or not 2b that is the question

If owners are making enough money to make that buy-in worth the price can we also agree they could pay their arena workers a living wage and perhaps shave just a little off the top of an $18 tallboy?

Move the coyotes. I guarantee you that if you move that failing franchise the league profits Go up by at least 5%.

If they’re aren’t actively looking at it but could be convinced, this might just be the “everything is for sale for the right price” tax.

In what city without a hockey team is a $2billion investment a good idea?

Garage league.

That’s a fucking stupid price

It’s their league, you want in you pay whatever price they say you do.

Considering, what, two franchises are worth that at the moment?
Eh, I’m sure someone in Atlanta will pay that for a third kick at the can. I mean, I hope there’s someone (or some consortium) with pockets that deep.

Can’t wait for the this watered down 45 team league in 10 years

They should move Arizona to Houston and just sit back for a while. 32 teams is a good number. They are going to start watering down the product if they keep going.
Something like 24 of the 32 teams were in the playoff race until late in the season. 26 of the 32 teams averaged a 90% capacity number on the season. That’s not a coincidence. The NHL is in a good place right now and they don’t need to be thinking about having more teams than the NFL.
