    I think Florida becomes a casualty of Buffalo or Ottawa getting in, or possibly both. Their D injuries to start the year are going to kill them, plus they lost some decent contributors

    Good fair preview…my take;

    This is my pet peeve so no offense, but we did not luck out into the playoffs. We had that 6 game winning streak and while everyone says we only got in because Pittsburgh lost to Chicago, they leave out the part where it only looks that way because we lost our final game of the season to the Canes because we had already clinched. If Pittsburgh wins that game, Cats still get in with a victory over Carolina. I know I am the Panther guy but I have yet to see one other creator make that point, everyone keeps saying we lucked out…

    Totally agree about the blue line except I would not even guarantee Mahura a spot right now let alone top pair. I get that he is the only other returning Dman but after Lucas Carlsson looked good in the previous season and did not make last years team I would not be shocked if Mahura did not make the top 6 and Maurice went with a more veteran approach considering who we are missing.

    Montour's numbers jumped because in Maurice's system he can roam as you put it and know that if he gets caught deep, the forwards will come back and cover for him. That was a big part of our slow start last year, the forwards not really understanding just how important their role was in coming back.

    Hoping Maurice loads the top 6 to start the season because we will need goals. Would prefer Tkachuk with Barkov & Swaggy, then Luostarinen with Bennett & Reinhart since Reinhart has been tried multiple times with Barkov and it just never works for whatever reason.

    Agree with your take on the division but do think the Cats will finish in 3rd. I like the Sabres but it's a brutal division. I think Buffalo gets in at 4 and the Bruins will be fighting for that last wild card spot.

    The regular season was alright, they did make the playoffs(barely!!),but, what an amazing playoff run–did they overachieve? Most certainly ,BUT, they are a good team and I suspect they will improve over last years' regular season and make the playoffs again. Then, once again, we'll see what happens. Excellent review, thank you.

    I'm not a Fla fan, but I have heard podcasts describe Fla as 'Tkachuk, and a couple of other guys….' thats bizarre to me.
    And honestly I do not know if they contend, but comments like that make it look unlikely. As if its not a team
