   I knew we had found a defensive gem in Protas when I watched us play a game against the Oilers last season and McDavid just could not get anything going when Alexei was on him. All game just getting pressured back towards the boards and having to dish the puck away for Connor. It’s the kind of thing people wouldn’t usually notice because it looks like standard stuff, except for the fact that it was McJesus who could find a way around or through.

   If he irons out his run-of-the-mill rookie mistakes, Protas is going to be a menace for the next decade.
