Having Willy as a third line center is a joke. He is a top line player in most NHL teams except Toronto. It is just disrespectful to his talent. If I were him I would not resign in Toronto. If you want defensive players that can not score you can easily get a whole line of them for the same price as Willy.
I'm not sure if moving Nylander to the centre will work! he's no Mats Sundin!!!!!!

I’m more surprised how Leaf fans have forgotten that William is actually a natural Centre.
Didn't the Leafs fight this tooth and nail for his first couple seasons in the league. I can't remember the reasons they gave at the time but do I have to believe now they were ideological rather because he couldn't play center if they suddenly stick him at center after he was ona sabbatical from the center position for the last decade.

Lol it's just funny bringing in a guy like Domi who I mean is capable to play center (even though he is best suited on the wing) and has a bit more nhl experience at center so if they really just wanted to slide Tavares to the wing wouldn't that be more of the logical choice or am i missing something why take Nylander who again I know is a natural center but not at the nhl level and to plug him into the 2C spot going against better faceoff guys in critical times and to let other teams dictate pace of the game kind of seems foolish. Personally I still think Tavares should be center as he is the best option, if they really wanted a 2C they should have taken Klingberg's 4 m and Domi's 3 m got one. Matt Duchene became available and would have been the better option. Everyone keeps on comparing Tavares to Stamkos but when Stamkos transitioned to wing he had 2 natural nhl caliber centers in Point & Cirelli to turn too, leafs don't have that right now lol

This is clearly a big challenge for Willy; a set-up for success, or not, big performance means nice contract, or not. I wish Willy the best at center!

Nylander would actually play better at center because he's the best at carrying the puck through the neutral zone. Tavares should be a winger. You'll see more goals from Tavares and more points for Nylander. There's actually nobody better on the Leafs who can carry the puck through the neutral zone than Nylander.
