Les Penguins se sont classés 14e dans la LNH pour la maîtrise des avantages numériques la saison dernière avec 21,7 %. Karlsson a marqué 27 de ses 101 points avec l’avantage numérique. Il a 273 points en avantage numérique à son actif au cours de 14 saisons dans la LNH. Letang a contribué 21 points en avantage numérique en 2022-2023. Depuis que Karlsson a fait son entrée dans la LNH en 2009-2010, lui et Letang se classent respectivement premier et cinquième parmi tous les défenseurs dans la production en avantage numérique. De nombreux regards seront tournés vers les Penguins au nouveau look l’année prochaine, après avoir raté les séries éliminatoires pour la première fois depuis 2005-06. L’équipe a subi des changements importants au niveau du front office et de la composition cette intersaison.

Makes perfect sense to me. We’ve had two #1 centers and have played them on the same unit their entire careers. Top unit typically goes for close to 90 seconds anyway as long as they are maintaining zone time.
Of course they will because Guentzel is hurt. What happens when Guentzel is ready to roll.
How about 65 QB from right point, 71 left point, 58 left wall, 59 in the slot and 87 doing his thing on the right wall / down low. I’m curious to see what Letang can do passing / one timers from a forward position.

Why do I have a bad feeling they are going to overcomplicate this? Just like Iginla. Play EK on the top unit and Letang on the second. It’s simple. EK and Brent Burns did not coexist well in SJ on the same power play. Forget the hurt feelings and do the right thing!
EK 40 goals this year, book it. This guy gets pucks to the net like no one else in the league on the point, except Makar.
Sounds good. Letang will be able to do what he’s always done in the O zone and Karlsson will minimize the breakaway risk.

This would give us the most PPGs out of all possible combinations imo.
Pretty sure Smith will do better on his next try on the unit, especially if the net-front guy was Sid and his D partner was EK. He was getting a lot of shots through last time, but didn’t get much help with the screens and deflections.
Malkin’s more dangerous on the right wall. Rakell is our best left-wall guy.
It’d be nice to see what we actually have in Ty Smith while the team can still make the playoffs.
Letang just doesn’t fit, being a righty. Guentzel is not a better net-front guy than Sid.
This makes a lot of sense especially with Guentzel out to start the year. Play EK at the point, Letang on the left half wall, Malkin on the right half wall, Crosby down low, and Rakell in front of the net.
