L’impasse en cours dans la RFA entre les Sens et Shane Pinto

Comment les Sens créent-ils l’espace nécessaire pour signer leur centre de troisième ligne ? Peuvent-ils le faire sans nuire à leur liste dans le processus ? 1. Asking for a first to get Joseph is an abuse. A first can be very valuable for a trade next year, when we probably lose Terasenko.
Can't Ottawa wave Joseph? I doubt he doesn't get claimed…

  2. Pinto and Drysdale and Zegras should all become friends via the bonding experience of being lowballed to an insulting degree by their GMs.

  3. Should a player's retained salary also move to LTIR? It makes sense if a player retires and both teams can get a recapture penalty (Lou with FLA and VAN). Teams can even get a cap credit 1 year for a buyout. If the CBA can be that convoluted why the LTIR oversight 🤷‍♂️

  4. Zubs contract is that high because of his defensive game. he is the senators best defensive defenseman and his focus is to play his excellent defensive game and to kill penalties and be physical. It may be high by a couple hundred thousand from an outside view, but he'd be signed to something very similar for his role that he plays

  5. Embarrassing situation for dorion. Just really poor asset management and decision making. There really is no excuse for this, he’s built a nice team but makes consistent super avoidable errors which are really costing them right now

  6. Pinto played under 100 games on his ELC. He's made over 2.2 million for basically 1 season.

As a 10.2 RFA Pinto has zero leverage.
He should sign 1 year at an ELC rate and actually play the sample size to justify a pay raise contract. He can't afford to sit on a couch and watch Greig take his job.

  7. Shane Pinto is going through the same thing as William Nylander. He gets to watch everyone else cash in while he gets shafted…

  8. There WILL BE a trade with the Flyers next week before the season begins in order to sign Pinto because no matter what he is a future core player for Ottawa… It's just stupid that they are waiting this long because in the end, they know they have no choice anyways :-///

  9. I think Pinto's ask is more than reasonable. I also, most unfortunately, believe that he will be signed soon as I find it suspect that Norris has not played a game, and I am starting to believe he will not be ready to return soon, ever?

  10. Zub is not overpaid at all he's extremely good defensively and you need at least 1 player like that and you have to pay to keep them

  11. Who said we weren't clamoring about the Murray LTIR situation!! I hate that that's allowed. They don't have to pay him but we do? Why didn't we just keep him and put him on LTIR ffs??

  12. Sorry, but unfortunately Lassi and JBD have not performed well at all this preseason. They are not NHL players.

  13. This is only an issue due to Dorian giving way to much money for too much term to unproven players such as Colin White, Mathieu Joseph and Josh Norris.

  14. Ottawa can not afford to trade away anyone unless Pinto agrees to a multi year deal. If Pinto only signs one year you can guarantee he’ll be gone at the end of the season and then we’ll be short two players.
He’s worth more than a million, but maybe not 2.5

  15. If Norris on LTIR probably…. Pinto can get 2.5M….then deal with it at USThanksgiving if Norris is ready

  16. Looks similar to where the Canucks are at, now that they've let go of a couple of guys. They've nickel and dimed themselves to death. When you're in a cap crunch situation, you can't afford to overpay more than one player. Pinto may be worth in the neighbourhood of 2.5-3. But they're going to have to do some cap gymnastics anyway like the Canucks did getting rid of Pearson and bringing in a goaltender and surrendering a draft pick to free up the cap space. Sure, Arizona would love to help Ottawa in this situation, but who of cap substance would the Sens be willing to surrender to get that cap space freed up and what young prospect or pick would they be willing to part with for the Coyotes to take on that extra cap? Like I said, they seem eerily similar to the Canucks. A few highly skilled players, but they haven't even made the playoffs yet and they're spending like they're contenders because obviously ownership is tired of the rebuild, for obvious reasons. I really like Ottawa's potential Top 4 and their Top 6, but their depth will be the big question. Korpisalo has shown he can be a solid starter in the NHL, but we'll see.

  17. That Tarasenko signing seemed like an offer Pierre couldn't refuse but it should never had been done before having Pinto signed. Pinto needs to be a Sens.

  18. For a team that hasn't made the playoffs in half a decade, it's wild that they've capped themselves out of one of their best players. I know some Sens fans don't think that some contracts are high, but normal people see it.

  19. I really like the job Dorion did with the rebuild but he painted himself into a corner with the Tarasenko signing. Next year the cap will go up and all the Ottawa buyouts will expire and the Sens will have plenty of cap space to signed Pinto long term.

  20. Anything between 2.5 and 3 is fair for him. Team’s just trying to use their leverage to its fullest

  21. He's a top six guy and they have a grinder C in the waiting. Trade him for his sake, and the clubs.

  22. Trade Joseph and Brannstrom. Thats 4.95. You can sign Pinto and have over 2 in reserve . Maybe add a 3rd pick as well and get a depth player in return

  23. Pinto being a 20 goal scorer asking for 2.5.

THG : ‘’it’s not something crazy he’s asking for, it’s not like he was asking 5 million, its not like it’s a long term contract either’’.

    Montreal fans : ‘’fuck’’.

  24. Am I the only one who is thinking of the Alex Formenton situation from last season? This is starting to become a pattern…

  25. can you trade dead cap maybe they can rid of murrays 1.5 million ot what ever it and give pinto that

  26. So wait. He wants $2 million on a bridge deal after he scored 20 goals last year, where he was forced to play higher in the lineup than he probably should have because of injuries?

What am I missing here? Pay the kid.

  27. Sens are playing this right with Pinto. They can wait and see if Joseph looks like a bounce back season is coming, and to see if Branstrom is worth keeping. They will get Pinto done before Xmas.
If they offered him a million, I guarantee that would come with a handshake deal to recompense him after this year.

  28. Would cutting/trading Mcewen or Kelly $775000, give enough to sign Pinto? Probably around 1.7mil

  29. There's a reason I dumped on Artem Zub and Joseph's contracts when they were signed. I like both player's, both are a million dollars to high. Signing guys like Tarasenko and Korpisalo to going rates aren't the reason for this teams cap issues, it's overpaying for hard working depth players with no finish. That being said, I don't think Pinto is worth losing a Ridley Greig over, and if that's what it costs to dump Joseph then you either see the return for Pinto or let him play in Europe for a year.

  30. Brannstrom is the one that seems to be the most expendable of the players that could offset a pinto signing. Kleven looks to be the exact opposite of what Brannstrom is and a far more stable prospect. Brannstrom has yet to show he can be shifty for his size and has always had problems with protecting the puck. While he has upside as an offensive player, he cannot be matched up against top line players like the other top 4 D in the lineup. What he does bring to the table is his vision for passing as it is what I feel has kept him in the nhl.

  31. Dorin is not good as a gm…he gives stupid contracts to guys that shouldn't be making that..chucky perfect example, or his stupid try with goalies…he needs to go…we lose pinto…I hope it's his job..we are going to be way over cap by next yr…he's really screwed this team up..it's this yr for the push I guess

  32. It seems to me that paying Pinto would have been a more solid investment than perhaps Tarasenko short term.
    Just my thoughts.

  33. Pay the guy what he is worth …and he is worth 3 million if Norris is getting 7 or 8. Free up the money and pay him already.

  34. Joseph + Kubalik to somebody with a roster player they want to move around 3-4mil contract. Gives Ottawa space and the other team gets Kubalik for taking Jospeh. Could work?
