I wonder who’s more helpless, Belichick without Brady or Woody here when the oilers don’t get 8 power plays.
“We weren’t good enough” would indicate it was a close contest. It was anything but.
Sorry but Woodcroft just doesn’t seem like a NHL calibre coach to me
Canucks aren't that good.
Oilers aren't that bad.
🤣😂😅😋🤣😂😅stanley cup contenders…🤣😅😂😂😥😢, not this year, not next year, not ever…if they haven't done it by now…they never will😉😂😂🤣🤣…change the team name and there's hope? Everyone's still stuck on their glory day's and not the present! Vancouver will be in the finals!
I like Jay, but it would seem to me to be a rock solid experienced NHL coach one would have their winning system down locked and loaded. I really can't picture coaches like Scottie Bowman, Glenn Sather, Don Cherry, Jacques Lamaire, Pat Quinn, and the list goes on, that would keep spinning the slot machine of systems and hope it lands on triple 7's. You either know what you're doing or you don't. Jay keeps saying the NHL isn't a player development league, but I think you can turn that statement right back around on Jay and say the NHL isn't a coaching development league. You either know the system that works best for your players or you don't. When the coach is changing and tweaking and scrambling every night who's really putting up the wins and who is responsible for the losses? The talent or the coach? Jay needs to be careful with his scrambled eggs approach, because like all NHL coaches, at some point they lose the room. It's only a matter of when.
we gon smack em next game
Was the first game. Was a horrible game for sure, but 1 game should not determine anything. Now if there is a 5-8 game stretch of this then there is concern. Lets see what comes next.
Oilers will be fine. I like Jay and his approach. Is this team a cup contender? I guess we will see. I will say teams are starting to figure out how to defend the Oilers, and i hope they recognize this. This team isnt over confident imo, they are learning a new structure while being crowned by the media as cup champions. They will be more competitive on Saturday night.
Oilers looked rusty even though they started practicing early…. very flat footed and let the Canucks skate around…. no pressure on the Puck nothing…but it's game one and Canucks got some lucky bounces for sure….
Im having a bunch of friends over for a friendsgiving on saturday. pls win. thanks.
I believe…Let's go Oilers!!!!!
If MAttias re-injures himself or misses time ~ this team wont win a division and maybe much worse.
McPowerplay has gotten so used to winning 4v5 contests that he cannot hockey without special teams being on the ice. He'll throw himself in the box to ensure there's 11 men on the ice.
I think that's hilarious.
vancouver just kicked their ass no excuses
W.T.F. ? Ha Ha Ha !!!
How many teams now know that an aggressive forcheck will make the oilers cave in…as in 8~1 cave in. "Tweak" and "flush" Jay Woodcroft. How in the world do you get "an off nIght for EVERYBODY" on OPENING NIGHT? At some point Dave Manson has to take some responsibility for this poor showing. How come he never has to man up to the media…always hidden and protected from the media?
162 points available? 🏒
Has Woodcroft ever given an interview where he HAS talked to the doctors and is able to give an update on an injured player? 😂
Bouchard needs to show a lot more fight in the corners and in front of the net. The Bouch bomb is great but NHL defensemen have to do more than shoot the puck. Not a new problem for him, it's just a lot more obvious when he's out there without Ekholm.
