sorry to be a downer, but I cant get excited about a win when we continually blow leads in the 3rd. I was actually hoping for the loss to validate my inner fantasy of some sort of change.
I feel bad for our netminders, they do everything they can to help the team seal up the win. Varly was absolutely SICK tonight. Unbelievable saves.

Hi Gil! I agree with these first couple comments from my fellow Isles fans. This was a pathetic display tonight. Another blown 3rd period lead, another penalty on the power play with 6m left!!!! Another back breaker with 2.5 seconds left? Lucky does not begin to describe this. 14 shots—-geez brutal. The Count May or May not get fired. Shocking to be honest, knowing there is an ex Devil waiting in the wings. He’s not the answer either but this game? This was brutal. Once in a while to play like this is understandable but this is a debacle every game. It was annoying to see them all celebrate as they did. This team should have toned it down to let the league and its fans know—-this is not acceptable!! They should have walked off the ice disgusted but they all rejoiced. Tell me a lot——take care Gil!! Gil , we have more than enough guys that can put the puck in the net. Holmstrom is legit. Are D is solid. Our goaltending is solid. Bottom line is we have a solid line up. THE PROBLEM IS THE COACHING PERIOD. Out of our forwards we have like 9 guys who have scored 20+ goals before. The issue is coaching make no mistake about it. This would absolutely NOT happen with barry trotz. One of the biggest blunders this team has made in their history is fring barry trotz as well as peter laviolette.
What I love about you, Gil is that your honest commentary on the Islanders every game. There's no BS coming out of you like I see with other podcasters. This is why this is a must listen. You are so right on about what you said about the Islanders' win. I am surprised they won, so now Lane Lambert somehow survives to live another game despite how bad they played again.
I spoke to several Islanders fans at Newark Penn Station the other night, as they made the trek to the Prudential Center to see their team. They are fed up with Lambert and Lamoriello. They want changes badly. This is as frustrated as I ever heard them in person. I really hope ownership is well aware of how frustrated fans are that the Islanders are not in a good place. This isn't very good.
Well I'm kinda glad I didn't see this only that Carolina scores with second left to get into OT. Devils game was another where they should have won in Regulation. Tyler Toffoli was on the interview so it was nice to see him. I've got a TV to hookup today so hopefully that will go well for me. Waiting for a new laptop then I think I'll see if I'm able to be around YT more. There is a Manga Dogsred where its about Hockey kinda but they mention Islanders in that. Japanese have a word for it. Actually I think it was from Booty Royale in the part when talking about Okinawa or where they are from. They have a term in Japanese that means Islanders for them which is kinda cool. We agree & we’ve complained about it Gil and unfortunately, they keep misusing Bo Horvat. That deflection goal by him was a perfect example of why he should not be on the same line as Lee. Whether it’s 5 on 5 or the PP. 1, I’m starting to see how Lane Lambert is mismanaging our players. Horvat and Lee should never be playing together because they are both redirection goal scorers. 2, Oliver Wahlstrom should never be benched in the 3rd at this point in his career. 3, They pick up a puck-moving defenseman in Mike Reilly and he doesn’t see the ice enough! Broken clock win. It had to happen sooner or later. They did score some pretty goals. After FLA, we have a long homestand. If the team doesn't get it together, the fans just may get what they were chanting for. Lane sounds like he's lost and searching for bright spots on a team with too few.
Some talking head had a nice evaluation of the Isles. "When Engvall is in your top 6, you aren't a good team". That goal he got was a terrible goal to give up. Tending is the canes big weakness.

Love the podcast! I was at the game last night and the two biggest issues I saw were the hustle aspect, as a Hurricane player's stick seemed to always be on a loose puck first and the other thing, that has driving me crazy for years, is the clearing of the zone. Too often the Islanders seem to make the more complicated play as opposed to just driving the puck up the boards to get it out. So many of them do it I wonder if it's coached. I can't stand it when they have the puck and pin it against the boards to wait for a person to tie them up. The tying goal was a direct result of Engvall not taking the easy play that was there.

Good morning team. OH MY GOODNESS! That was a very hard game to watch until the end. Thank goodness for our goalies. Shot, shot, shot, shot, shot, shot, shot, shot, shot, shot, shot, shot. Hurricanes shooting from everywhere! There were a couple of nice goals from our special teams. That was nice to see. If the Canes had a goalie that could stop a couple of shots, we lose this game, in regulation! Of course, I'm glad we got the win, but come on! Gm Gil. The Isles looked like a minor league club playing an NHL team. The Canes were relentless and had they had good goaltending last night could very well have been a blowout. Still, the Isles blew two leads in the 3rd period which they really had no business acquiring. There are just so many players on this club who lack accountability. Last night it was Nelson who took a tripping penalty while the Isles were on the powerplay

I always agree what you say Gil 😊you know your islanders 🎉 on paper we have a good team but what happen to the defense 🎉 horvat and barzal are looking good. I can’t give up on the islanders 🎉it’s tough when you like the islanders, jets and Mets 😢 my two kids Scotty and Jessica have to win the championship in baseball and soccer for me.. I think 😮horvat is one of the best players in the league. I like him because he gives 110 percent everytime on the ice. Scotty was hanging out with horvat on a charity poker game. Yeah, they pulled a magic trick last night. But the one thing they have done better in the last 6 games is to kill penalties. I think only to PPG against in last 6 games. PK up to 71.8% (up to that horrific number LMAO). Is it just lack of hustle, lack of speed, poor positional play or now injuries to DMen that are doing this? Gil, how would you rank it?
