@Ligue nationale de hockey

less points than all the players you mentionned but sure cherry pick stats to fit your narrative. Hes the best goal scorer of that list for sure tho

  2. RayGun381937

25 goals is nice… but the most amazing thing is that he has ZERO PIM this season; simply astonishing!

  3. Exciting_Ad4264

Only one player you mentioned has a cup

  4. JiffTheJester

Yeah I would say he’s the 2nd best offensive player in the league.

    Who has more points though?

Who has the best plus minus?

What about underlying stats like goals expected vs goals against while on ice?

    Who is more productive 5on5?

All things and many more that matter.

  6. RattyDaddyBraddy

Eh, has he ever taken his skate off and tried to stab somebody though?

  7. mrpink01

Downvote away, but I think he’s the best two-way centre in the game.

I acknowledge the Tribal Leaf. ☝️☝️☝️

  9. Bubbafett33

At 14th in points I would say « ~~safely~~ arguably the second best ~~player~~ forward in the league ».

Offensively? He’s top 3. He’s the best goal scorer in the NHL and I don’t think it’s particularly close. But playmaking is only “good”.

As far as the 2nd best player in the league? I’d say he’s more likely top 5.

I’d honestly take JT miller over him for just being a more complete player and his cap hit is significantly less. But no cap consideration, I take Matthew’s, hands down.

    I’d go:
    McDavid
    Mackinnon
    Kucherov
    Makar
    Matthew’s

For the top players in the league. In that order.

22 more goals than *anyone* since entering the league*

with 27 fewer games played than 2nd place Ovi.

  12. DrSeuss19

With his defense he’s in a group of his own.

  13. punkdrummer22

No. And im a Leaf fan

Best goal scorer and very good defensively but not #2 overall. Top 10 though

Hasn’t even been the best Leaf this year

  14. Dry_Mistake_6627

Lol no he is not even close, goals are not the only metric and he is a pylone in the playoffs. Draisaitl and MacKinnon both get way more points every year and do significantly better in the playoffs. 2nd best is between them I’d lean towards Draisaitl personally due to his insane playoff stats.

The two best players are on teams that will never seriously compete for cups. Quite a league Bettman runs.

Can we have a day that goes by that we don’t have to have a conversation like this? Can a player be incredible without having to rank them? The constant dick measuring contest is so boring. They all have big dicks. Massive dicks. Second biggest codpiece in the league? Why do we care? I don’t need to rate the size of their dicks to be impressed.

  17. Brodieboyy

I would say best goal scorer in the league for sure, but second best player is a not even close. There’s currently 12 players ahead of him in points right now including his own teammate and by the end of the season I expect he’ll be around 10-12th in the league in points.

  18. BolshoiSasha

McDavid > Kucherov > Makar, Matthews, Drai > The next bunch

  19. alecsharks

He’s at worst 4th but I still have trouble putting him ahead of Makar and Mac.

  20. IamPriapus

Toronto and Canadian Media will have you believe that Matthews is 2nd to mcdavid. He’s not. He’s having a good year but what did he do last year? He’s one of the best goal scorers, when healthy, but he’s never even close in points or playmaking. How is he 2nd?

  21. no_on_prop_305

    Arguably second best offensive player

  22. InternationalPost447

Are we still calling mcdecent #1?

  23. NipplyT

People who hate on Matthew’s don’t watch the games and only look at stats. Solidly second best forward in the league.

  24. Right now i would say he may be THE best player in the league

The game is more than just points and skill

Its also about defensive responsibilty and being a locker room leader

Mcdavid may be better at producing points but hes not as complete as matthews

Matthews or makar are the best in the league
