Let's face facts, for the last 2.5 years the Islanders have been a .500 team. Under Trotz, while never favored, they at least had a puncher’s chance at knocking off the top dogs. This year's team, soft as room temperature butter, has no shot. NONE. It's time to clean house starting from Lou on down. Trade any and everyone for draft picks and grade A prospects. No one should be untouchable. The alternative is tinkering around the edges, somehow squeeze into the playoffs, followed by a quick exit.
The Islanders just are not in the same class as Vancouver, Colorado, Vegas, or any other serious contender. If we need any more proof, just look at the past week as evidence. Let's see how they do against Toronto on Thursday who have won 4 in a row.

What a difference a year makes. One year ago the Canucks traded their captain to the Islanders in the midst of a lost season. This year they are doing so well that Kuzmenko (39 goals last year) has been benched 5 times and the Canucks are still number one in goals for.

Casucks 5, isles 2. Isles never in game as faster more skilled casucks dominate them. Only bright spot-nelson scores both goals including one on cold pp as invisible man palmeiri got in on it. With pens, caps, det all with games in hand and tb breathing down isles back 2 pts. back isles are two losses away from dropping out of playoff spot. You knew Pellach wouldn’t have much. They were committed early to play hard and then they just froze in their zone and bing it was in the net. Also 2 weak penalties hurt. Martin went out and hit everything in sight for one shift and you could see it shocked Vancouver and got the fans going, but nothing happened after that. Now CZ blocks shot and he is out. Now Barzy has to double shift. Dobber playing ridiculous amount of minutes. Barzy had two good rushes but missed and other than that he did nothing except for the PP. Just not enough skill to pressure a skilled team like that. At this time in hockey, forget the low shots..they stop them. Shoot high. I will take the over the net shots at this point. Also can the Isles stop each others passes? The amount of time the puck hops over their stick is glaring. I feel like i want to keep that stat for both teams during the game. I think its another indication of lack of skill.
