Hanifin is worth what the flames reportedly offered him. 7.5 per max for 8 years.
Coyotes apparently are interested which makes sense. They can afford him and Flames could get a pretty sweet prospect/pick in return

Rhett nailed it 100% . The guy is not being paid , as Pinder says on guys who signed last year… it's what he is paid in year 5, not year 1…. short term Pinder VS long term Rhett. Rhett is right. 7.5 in 5 years will be dirt cheap.
Tanev and 50% salary retention to Toronto for Timothy Liljegren, Noah Gregor and a 1st round pick.
Hanifin to Colorado for Bowen Byram, Calum Ritchie or Jean Luc Foudy and a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Obviously might need some tweaks for salary purposes but I think both deals really help the flames in the long term
Pinder always thinks these players and their agents will take less money. No, the objective is to reset the market higher. Makar wants Hanafin to get a big deal, so he can reset the market when his term comes up again. Same for the next guy and the next guy. The game is to drive the market up. Whether it's the Flames or anyone else, whoever signs Hanafin is going to have to pay.

Devon Toews is 2 years older than Hanafin, has played about half as many games and scores at the same rate as Hanafin. What makes Pinder think he is way better?

You guys are so stuck up on a retool. Where did a retool ever get us??? *** nowhere. We want a full blown rebuild. Name one Stanley cup winner who won from a retool. Every nhl team needs to go eventually go though a rebuild to eventually be contender.
