Say what you will about her recent coverage. She was iconic as a kings writer and should be remembered as such.
CheesyCaption
She’s been the last popular voice left that’s willing to be antagonistic against the organization which is pretty refreshing compared to most of the other media having pretty cozy relationships with the organization. There’s nothing wrong with being friendly with the organization to get a bit more privileged access but it definitely limits how antagonistic you can be when you’re trying to stay friendly.
Frankly, I see this as an incredibly poor sign for the LA Times. Not that sports reporting is the most important thing in the world but Helene is a quality reporter and is one of those people that, I’m sure, people subscribe specifically to read for (people pay to read her, if you will).

She was badass and her passion for the team came through in her articles. I think she expressed the sentiment that the majority of us have had towards the team through the years. Wish her well.

RIP LA Times.

Sucks. I was considering getting a LA Times subscription to read her stuff too.
She’ll probably be able to continue to Kings beat with the Athletic or something, if she wants.

For those who don’t know, her husband recently died. I’m sure that played a part in the timing of this.

I’m sure she’s a casualty of the LA Times’ staff cutbacks, as was the case with other sports writers. The sports section has been a joke for a long time (literally sometimes no more than 2 pages for the print edition).

She would cover the Kings so well for years. Thank you Helene for all your hard work!! Go Kings Go
