  1. This is good. They should be concerned, find ways to fix it and then move on. Worst thing would be to ignore it and just hope it goes away.

I’m tired of this narrative. What else has happened in the last 3 years?

  3. No-Expression-2404

Yet we play in SJ, Pittsburg, etc with half empty arenas and nobody’s talking about moving _them_. Fuck Bettman and fuck sports writers.

  4. Shotgunn5

Bettman can go fuck himself. He’s going to show up and fear monger here, yet the situation in Arizona is perfectly fine and doesn’t need to be addressed. The double standards for NHL teams in Bettman’s world is ridiculous.

  5. tailspinner_

Are they doing this to distract us from the tire fire that is Arizona?

  6. ML00k3r

I have seen a plenty of USA based teams with very noticeable empty seats. Seating capacity becomes moot when any arena reaches those levels.

  7. TrueNorthStrong1898

It’s almost like life is expensive right now and tickets are unreasonably expensive. Wasn’t it announced recently that the Jets are lowering ticket prices next season? This is a nothing burger “story”

  8. POLANPOLANPOLAN

What about Arizona, team playing at college arena for a second year in a row?

  9. finnish-flash13

WTF!?!? What bout the yotes, how are they doing?

  10. Low-Light-3563

People in this thread are looking at this as a threat to move rather than an attempt to help sell the team and league to corporate sponsors.

  11. Taintedtamt

In this thread, people who think this a threat and not something the NHL is trying to do to help shore up the Jets.

I don’t think is as bad as we think. We know that the Jets wanted more STH from the general public over corporate sponsors. Now they are adjusting to get more corporate involved.

One last thing. Chipman is the second most powerful person on the Board of Governors. This team ain’t moving.

Bettman is just going to be a part of that. He will likely be giving a presentation on why they should sign up as corporate sponsors.

  12. Mammoth-Opinion5040

lol blow us. if they even try to scare tactic us i will boycott anything nhl and true north. until we are sucking on the tit of the nhl revenue sharing nip i dont wanna hear a damn thing. go deal with phx first

  13. HatrikLaine

If they do a press conference there should be fans there to show Bettman what a POS he is and make him look bad. This is beyond embarrassing for a league that literally has the coyotes playing out of like the max bell centre. What a fucking joke

  14. altred133

This tweet is worded so stupidly. ‘3 years’ uhhhhh no shit we weren’t selling tickets 3 years ago. And ‘monitoring the situation’ sounds patronizing and ominous.

But everyone agrees we need corporate to buy more seats, like every other team in the league, so Bettman making his rounds to talk to sponsors is not as scary as this tweet makes it out to be. Bettman works for Chipman, not the other way around. He is not going down there to threaten TNSE.

This whole one-year-of-ticket-sales-being-down is a massive nothing-burger. Talk to me if its still a problem in 5 years.

  15. ottereckhart

Get the fuck outta here Bettman. What a fucking joke.

Hopefully he does something useful and actually scores some corporate support for the team

  16. Archiebonker12345

Has anyone seen the empty seats at other games? It’s all across the league.

  17. ihopeipofails

Got nothing to do with our governments suppressing wages..

  18. Spiritual_Holiday511

Gary Bettman can absolutely go and fuck himself. His miserable failure of a project is playing out of a damn college rink with no prospect of moving to a real one any time soon. What a fucking joke.

  19. TheGreatStories

What a slap in the face this is. Go buy land in Arizona. Go get people to watch the California teams. This is where he chooses to personally get involved?

  20. ISuplexSharks

I mean, I would go way more often if the economy wasn’t so shit and buying a house wasn’t my main priority. Games aren’t for the working class, only the rich now.

  21. GZeus24

I’d love to see this compared to drops over other 3 year spans in different markets. San Jose from contender to 3 years later for example. Or Chicago’s trajectory before being gifted Bedard.

  22. Loudlaryadjust

The Team will do better next season, inflation is going down, interest rates are just about to drop, the economy will be in a better places and the Jets will sold out again.

  23. Just_Merv_Around_it

Bettman works for the owners, the owners want to make as much money as possible. He’s coming here to help make them more money.

  24. ynotbuagain

Sure but drooling over an old pos that has done nothing for the NHL is super cringy…you do you!

  25. Astrowelkyn

Honestly, whatever helps get corporate support to increase. Don’t see this as a means of spooking the fan base. Winnipeg has the lowest corporate support which makes them especially vulnerable to decreases in general fan support.
