They need to start the rebuild and stop trying to hold onto the past. Hold on too long and you’re bad for way longer than you should be.
The feneay group that owns the pens also own the red sox and soccer team. They will not pay anyone. As a red sox fan we are seeing that the last four years. They are in it for the cash they could care less.
If Pittsburgh truly loves and respects Crosby for all that he did and sacrificed for them by winning 3 cups, taking a hometown discount, being loyal etc., then they should trade him to a cup contender (like Colorado) for a bargain just to say thank to Crosby and give him a chance to enjoy the last years of his career on a good team!
Here is how you avoid wasting the end of Crosby's career: You tell Crosby that the Penguins are planning on entering a full rebuild, and don't anticipate contending for the next several years. You then ask Crosby if he wants to stay during that rebuild, or you ask him if he would prefer to be traded to a contender. That gives him the choice of how he wants to end his career.
Winnipeg could use a center, especially a future hall of famer. Heck I don't think a team in the league wouldn't try to land him!
Trade Crosby and Letang (or Karlsson) to the Avalanche for a Cale Makar package. Crosby can try to win a Cup with MacKinnon. Letang or Karlsson can replace Makar and the Avs can keep going. The Pens can start the rebuild around Makar and replace Letang's career. Oh wait Dubas is a BLEEP. The Penguins have no idea on asset management and no plan.
We should have started the "re-tooling" as the capitals did a few years ago. Also, I would take Matheson and Marino over Karlson.

Its amazing to me how many people want Crosby to be traded. I guess the fact that some of the guys refenced on the pens have no movement clauses is not relevant? For example, Rust has a full NTC/NMC. Not everyone would do what Rutherford did to Hornqvist. I dont see them talk about how Marner, Matthews, Nylander and Tavares should be taking less money. But Sid should? Remember that Sid lived with Mario for several years and got to see what he meant to the franchise. If he does leave, if he doesnt go to Colorado, his favorite team growing up was Montreal.
It's weird cuz Pittsburgh ain't a Bad team… they're just completely out of Gas! Kyle's gotta get speed in that lineup no matter what! He may be able to retool quickly… but they ain't getting past the 1st round til they completely tear it down

Kris Letang is +14 and plays big minutes. I don’t think it’s fair to say he isn’t pulling his weight.
