  1. Not sure why they think Green will be any better though.

Easy to say now, but they needed to promote Burnette when they had the chance.

  2. So I'm a long time Devils fan, and right off the hop, uncle Lou never would have let this shit fly.

But into the main point. Last night, Ruff chose to start Daws, again, after a very poor outing two days prior. After the first he'd allowed 2 goals on something 6-8 shots. And I'm thinking, he can't possibly start him in the second… And low and behold.

At that point, after defending him for as long as he did, he needed to go. That's just obviously bad coaching.

What he said about the media part of the Devil's woes also didn't help whatsoever. It's been a tough season to be Devil's fan.

I'd take 10 years of awful hockey again, after this monumental disappointment of a season. What an absolute waste..

  3. As a devils fan, this sort of solves things. We still need goaltending and defensemen but this does solve some issues. I felt like he didn't adjust to injuries well, he never really changed up the lines so it was just inconsistent play, and it felt like he just got out coached by so many teams. He also didn't play Holtz enough, but I doubt that played into the decision to fire him. Hopefully we can respond well to this and catch up to either a wild card or a division spot

  4. Lindy firing isn't the answer. Goalie also isn't the answer. Defense is the answer. Devils don't make the playoffs. I am a die hard Devils fan so this sucks but this is the reality.

  5. Tom Fitzgerald played with Travis Green in the late 80s-early 90s under Al Arbour. So maybe this was as much philosophy based as it was record.

  6. As a Sabres' fan I'm chomping on this one. Hope the Sabres hire him in some capacity (preferably head coach) so the team can start winning consistently.

  7. This is the GM’s fault. The Devils #1 glaring need was a goaltender. They give Meir a huge deal he didn’t earn when that money should have gone to a goalie.

  8. This wont fix all the issues, but Ruff lost the room a while ago. He mismanaged the roster and made questionable decisions so many times that it was just a matter of time. I think at this point you just fire him for the players, not because you believe that Green is gonna take you to a higher level and everything will be fixed. Also, did you notice last game when he pulled the goalie and then forgot to send the 6th player until jack started waving the bench? I think that was the last straw and it would have been surprising if he was behind the bench tomorrow.

  9. Great video, big fan of the channel. I agree with most everything you said, except that the team isn't having trouble putting pucks in the net. Take the recent ducks or kings games as examples, the shots on goal to pucks in the net ratio is not where it should be with how many supposed big scorers there are on the current devils roster. Would be interested to hear why you think they haven't been preforming like they are capable of.

  10. This is such BS. Lindy was setup to fail this year with the decision to keep doing nothing in net and leaving D weak after injuries. This is on Fitzgerald. And Travis Green is not the person to change things for the better.

  11. Devils fan, Lindy was good but def had weird takes. Devils and the players looked like they needed a change, a lot of it has to be mental because of how different this season has been. I also think Ruff doesn't deserve to go through Fire Ruff chants he would have faced otherwise. One bright side I see is that this might help with better utilizing Timo Meier and Alexander Holtz, and with Greene knowing Markstrom from the Canuck days, this might appeal to Markstrom!

  12. I remember all Devils fan were saying b4 the Timo Meier trade that "were gonna be unstoppable" when we get Timo. And Win the Stanley Cup but it doesn't look like dats gonna happen.Missing the Playoffs looks like a big Possibility for New Jersey.

  13. Canucks fan, Green sucks, at least he did over here. You guys have children for defense, maybe that's the problem and that's on GM.

  14. Should have hired Tom Greene, maybe he can at least make them laugh the rest of the season!

  15. Ruff has been terrible. Timo plays out of position, Holtz is always in the doghouse, defensive scheme is horrible. Ruff is plenty responsible along with goaltending. They just never look ready to play.

  16. Let it ride I’d say. Sell who you need to and address concerns in the offseason.

  17. Haven’t kept up with New Jersey’s season as close as certain other teams, but I’d heard Mr. Ruff’s seat was getting rather warm.

Superb season for NJ last year, ended by Carolina in RD-2. 4th in GF, 9th in GA, 13th on the PP, 4th on the PK.

This year: 10th in GF, 27th in GA, 14th on the PP, 17th on the PK.

So yeah, that’s some steps backward. Don’t know how much of that is down to Ruff, disappointing individual seasons, and/or injuries. But when the going gets tough, the Head Coach is usually the first to get going (out the door.) 🫤

  18. Ok so they lost Hamilton (injury), Severson, & Graves (free agents), all experienced D-men, & Sigenthaler injured for over a month exposed their remaining young D (Nemec, Hughes, Bahl) Miller & Marino's mediocre play at best. They then lost their best faceoff guy in McLeod and another D Foote through legal issues. Haula not as good on draws and he Lazar & Nosek & Tierney are all just role players anyway. Goalies: 1.Vanicek melts down mid-season, 2.Schmid showed some youthful inexperience after a pretty good playoff run last year 3. Daws is promising but also young/inexperienced. Hischier & Hughes were out for patches of the season, as other teams have learned that they couldn't stand up to physical play and targeted them, and Brendan Smith (sometimes D, sometimes wing, but always slow) and Bastian were the only ones to step up for the others and the latter got his arse kicked recently vs. the Rangers and has yet to return, and Smith also has been injured many times. Meier too has been injured, eventually returned and up until recently has been nearly invisible as a "power forward". Bratt & Toffoli have been the most consistent performers all season offensively not named Hughes & Hischier, but Mercer went from a streaky scorer last year to very limited flashes this, and Palat only seems to play well during the playoffs. Youngster Holz started well & has been silent as of late. Coaches: Green is no Burnette as far as offensive schemes, Lindy is way past his prime, & it goes without saying they need a whole new coaching staff after this season. GM Fitzy went from the cat bird seat last summer to the hot seat now- lets see if he can eventually pull off a deal for a legit #1 goalie, & give Daws or Schmid a bit more time to develop.
