  1. I was listening to this on the radio, and I heard the play by play guys baffled… no penalty. Then 15 seconds later, they scored…. gutsy call by the coach… awesome!

  2. i’m an islanders fan, obviously i could see patrick roy trying this. but dear god please don’t let this become a thing, my anxiety couldn’t handle it

  3. I've seen this before. In 1990, the Flyers were on the brink of finishing last for the first time in franchise history. In the final game of the season and trailing the Penguins by a point but if they tie in points the Flyers would finish ahead based on head to head record. They went to overtime in the last game of the season and in the final minute they pulled the goalie. The game ended in a tie and they finished last.

  4. tbh I have to give minnisota credit for playing relatively well despite having 14mil in dead cap

  5. I remember that LAK pulled the goalie at Boston in 2017 I believe.. it was OT with 0.3 on the clock and they scored, wild game (it was on a FO in the offensive zone).

  6. This is not the first time Marc-Andre Fleury was involved in something like this!

In 2002, in the QMJHL, the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles pulled Fleury for overtime during their final regular season game against the Halifax Mooseheads. They were tied in points, but Halifax held the tiebreaker, so a loss changed nothing. The Eagles needed that 2nd point to finish ahead of Halifax. It was made known through the broadcast in overtime that if Halifax scored with the Eagles' net empty, the Eagles would lose the point they earned for tying.

    The game ended tied anyways.

  7. There's a rule that says there is a minor penalty when a goalie crosses the center ice line and participates in the play in any manner. What's the definition of "in any matter". One could argue that coming to the bench to facilitate another team mate entering the game and participating in the play is "in any matter". Nashville should have challenged the obvious missed call and forced the league to define this stupid ass rule.

  8. I'd like to see the rule about forfeiting the extra point in case of being scored on with goalie pulled in OT removed. If you're willing to take the risk, then you should be allowed to do it without the disincentive. As it stands, what would happen if both teams pulled their goalies and played 4×4? It's a ridiculous scenario, but possible.

  9. Well, shouldn't it work out that the Preds don't get points? Like you know what I mean? If you have a chance to get no points then it's like taking the point from the other team

  10. Also in that note, if a team has an extra player on the ice then icing should automatically be waved off.

  11. 4v3 is WAY more of an advantage than 5v4. However i had no idea about that rule. Makes sense going for it if you have possession and there's a minute left. You can control the play till the buzzer, only going for high quality shots.

  12. Never heard that rule! Weird. I guess there are some teams that will kill you in the shootout so maybe you just go for it? Seems too risky. Best to play it safe and keep the one point. I wonder about having a 3 point system for regulation wins? Too many are happy to drag the game into extra innings, but if there were an incentive for winning in 60 minutes, many more teams would make the game very interesting.

  13. I was freaking out. The Wild are showing a ton of fight and are going to fight till they are eliminated or do the unthinkable and make the playoffs

  14. Why would the NHL have that rule for overtime? It's stupid, you should be aloud to pull your goalie in overtime without being punished.

  15. Not sure why this surprises anyone. Minnesota needed the extra point to remain in contention for a playoff spot. They need to gain ground whenever they can.

  16. I’m a Ducks fan I was watching this game on espn + and was in shock like that’s gutsy I tip my hat to the Wild head coach
