    Karlsson was never going to fit the Penguins. Although it’s not been awful, he’s not done anywhere NEAR enough to warrant $10+ million a season for a guy who’s in his mid 30s and can’t play defense to save his life.

    This team is like the 09 Red Wings. On paper, they're world beaters with world class talent and hall of fame names, but they're aging, the team is well past its prime, and the up and coming teams in the league are too good to let the primes of their careers slip away. You have teams with McDavid and Draisitl, Matthews and Marner, Tkachuk, Makar and Nate Mac, the Canes who just acquired Guentzel. There's no way an aging team who's been there done that is beating out handfuls of teams that want it more than anything in their lives, just like Sid, Geno, Tanger and Fleury were chasing their firsts in 08 and lost it. A year later, they certainly weren't going to let that happen again

    Do you think either Poulin, Ponomarev, or both will get called up to the big club before seasons' end? I am with the both of you, the playoffs are pretty not happening for this team and I want to see what some of these younger players have to offer and see if they can be viable options for next season.

    To be honest it's been over for about three weeks now. It was over when The Penguins choked away the Calgary Flames game. They have never recovered since that game.

    Can the Penguins defer the pick to San Jose if they do not want to make it in the top 10? They may choose to pass 6-10 if they feel the rebuild will roll over into 24-25 or is the offseason the path back into the playoffs?     EK65 is a joke. EK65 isn't in the top 10 in defenseman goals, assists, or points. Mike Matheson: 69GP/9G/38A/47Pts vs EK65: 69GP/8G/38A/46Pts. Simply never make the Petry trade with Matheson. Trade Petry to Detroit. Keep and expire Granlund next year.
    Ovechkin has 16 goals in his last 23 games and the Caps are 1 point out of the playoffs. In 87's last 13 games he has 7 points. In addition, last season in 87's last 15 games he had 10 points and the Pens missed the playoffs by 1 point. Nobody says anything. P.S. Guentzel has 11 points in his last 6 games with a new team and system!
