Wow, do they try to move Jarry and keep Ned in the offseason? I’m not hating on Jarry but you can’t pay a backup (for the last 10 or so games) $5.5m

No brainer.

I hope in the offseason we can resign Ned to a decent deal. But with his play, he might have priced his way out of Pittsburgh. But it would be an awesome 1A and 1B tandem if we could get Ned at like a 3×3. Wishful thinking!

At some point we will need Jarry, and he will be as cold as ever.

I’m not too surprised and it would be a tough position to put Jarry in. I am a bit surprised though because Ned has cooled off a bit from his strong run. He’s not playing poorly now, but 3 of the last 4 under .900 save%, 5 of the last 9. He’s been good still, making important saves, but I’d argue he helped spark this stretch, but he’s also now just become a passenger on it and isn’t really playing a key part in it anymore. Regardless, I back him and hope he plays great tonight.

Jarry has had better games than Ned (just look at his number of shutouts), but he’s not been as consistent as Ned. Ned’s hot right now, and the team is playing well enough in front of him. Can’t switch goalies when you need consistency.

1) Jarry, for whatever reason, seems to wear down as the season goes along. I don’t expect Martin Brodeur (didn’t he start 79 games one year), but Jarry DOES have a track record in this regard.
2) Early on Ned was going to give me a heart attack. I even posted « Somebody put a leash on that guy ». He has gotten much better in that regard.
3) Analytics can kiss my Pierogi. The same « analytics » that say Jarry has performed better also state the Pens » should » have a much better PP. Yet here we are.
4) FIRETODDRIERDEN.

Jarry has been in the league 5 seasons. He’s an above average goalie how doesn’t have an ounce of consistency. Either great or terrible. In games that have mattered (playoffs) he’s been a turd nugget. Analytics aside, the core has won 3 cups with goalies who were earlier in their careers than Jarry is. They know what a winning goalie looks like, and I feel as if they know he isn’t one of them.

Shit em out Ned. Fuck em up for cutting you last season
