I think it’s much more likely that he was trying to keep his balance than it is that he was trying to no-look behind-the-back high-kick decapitate a guy with his skate.

Ah, r/nhl. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

    My thoughts? People are idiots.

There’s some contact beforehand, whilst I’m far from a skater at a level that might facilitate getting close to playing competitive hockey, I don’t believe it to be sufficient to leave the skate where it ended.

By the same token, I don’t think the momentum or positioning of the skate was of a sufficiently increased risk to Quick’s safety.

I’d imagine up to 5 games but anything above that would suggest that, as in European hockey, mandatory neck guards are coming.

Definitely a stupid and a dickhead move but I’d also not suggest aggressive.

Behind a keyboard with a blanket of anonymity, people tend to say things they would never otherwise say, some do it for the lulz, some do it to try to sound clever, and others just like throwing gas on fires.

A lifetime ban though??? Come on. I’ve seen shit worse than that go completely ignored

I refuse to believe ppl are that stupid to actually think that was the intention. I am convinced the Pussifcation of ppl born after Y2K will bring the end of the world

I’m gonna be honest I didn’t like it. Idk about a lifetime ban but there’s no reason for his skate to end up that high

When I saw it live I was thinking “that might be a problem”. So if I’m honest it didn’t look so great.

He was taking a dive, at least according to the ref.
