@Red Wings de Détroit

  1. Has Washington not beaten Detroit in the two head to head matchups they just played in the last two weeks? That tells you which team is better. Wings take care of business against the caps in either of those games and they would be in. Cover that part next time instead of boo hoo whining.

  2. That's what happens when you play like sh!@ down the stretch. In fact, they all played like garbage. The Caps only made it through because the other teams just happened to play a little bit worse.

  3. really sucks that this race came to an end because the flyers pulled their goalie giving the spot to the capital….. i feel i wasted my last 2 weeks watching this race for it to end like it did. im sure caps fans are happy but kind of sad you made it on an empty net goal.

  4. You say "fortunate" icing as if it wasn't an icing…

    Officiating has been terrible in general for the last month or so. Lots of no-calls, including one where Andrew Copp got a fractured cheek bone from a blatant high stick and missed a couple of games. So I can't say I'm surprised by what happened to Philly either.

  5. No it wasn't. They played great and they proved they can win the "must win" games. Wings fans need to be excited for next season.

  6. As a pens fan seeing that bullshit icing and wings tie then watching the flyer pull their goalie without having full possion in the zone with 3 min in a tie game is heartbreaking. The pens were finally playin some good hockey went on a tear to end the season and to come up short again😢😢

  7. Another poor missed call was when the flyers player two-hand chopped the stick of a capitals player in half literaly

  8. RedWings have a future. They just need more consistency. I watched their first game of the season and saw the type of board play necessary. This result doesn't surprise me…even though I predicted they would get in. Unlike other shit sports that build a playoff out of 66% of the teams…hockey has a tough cutoff…eliminating teams capable of upsetting any elite team.

  9. Not heartbreaking they had a chance to secure their own fate but put into others hands once again better luck next year.LGR.

  10. Why did Washington make it over Detroit? They have the same amount of points and better statistics…

    Also, Kelly Sutherland should be fired.

  11. Everyone focuses on the comebacks but not the fact that they were necessary against Montreal, twice. Not to mention the gift of that icing call. The right team got in.

  12. I didn’t consider the possibility that Tortorella knew Detroit had tied the game but went ahead and pulled the goalie in regulation anyway. I’ll stick with ‘he didn’t know’ …although it seems strange that info wouldn’t get to a bench assistant almost immediately

  13. Killed me as a lifelong Wings fan, but this makes the NHL so much more appealing and makes the salary cap really do what it’s supposed to do. The regular season actually matters now???

  14. I've been shaking my head about this all day. After sooo many things that should have meant Washington was out, they somehow squeaked in. Detroit must feel gutted about how this played out. I just hope now that your fear is not correct and that Washington does not actually knock the Rangers out. That would suck. But hey, as you rightly said: it's the playoffs!
