How did you meet him?
My family had the chance to meet him when I was in 7th grade. We went to Troy Sports Center for a Red Wings vs Firefighters charity event and they raffled off tickets to watch practice and then have lunch with Yzerman in the JLA lunch room. Genuinely one of the best guys out there. He sat with us and answered our questions for well over an hour. My little sister, who was 7 at the time, asked him why NHL players fight. Yzerman just had this befuddled look, started stammering, and then just goes « well, it’s in the rules ».
Wonder what his mood is like after all the shenanigans

Whenever we had to answer those who is your idol or who do you look up to most questions in grade school I always answered Steve Yzerman. I’m a non hockey playing girl but grew up going to games since I was 2.
