I’m sure most teams and fan bases feel thier guy is the best. I’m not sure how you can really know without being in the room with these guys. Larkin is obviously well respected and loved by his team and us for sure. Best captain idk how you can rank them but best choice for us yeah.

  2. It’s hard to say as there is a lot of really good ones and you can’t easily quantify their leadership like you can with their points. I feel like Larkin is one of the better ones for sure, but the list of captains in the league right now has a lot of really good names.

I didn’t read past like the first four words

  4. Legit think he’d be touted as top 5 among the league being as unbiased as possible.

He missed some games for sure, but if you compare Larkin’s points against other centers, those numbers are very near the bottom of the list. I love, love, love his intensity and the leadership he brings to Detroit. I love that he’s a fan of the team. I love that he still has the jets to move up and down the ice with speed, and I do think he deserves to wear the « C ». In his absence, the team did not succeed, so whether his points are high or low on the list with other centers, he clearly matters to the team, but I get why people still say Detroit needs a « true » 1st line center to reach and compete in the playoffs.

Almost every one of my friends think Larks is the worst captain we’ve ever had. All you have to do is watch this team when he’s NOT playing. The intensity and leadership truly isn’t there. It’s night and day. Since Day 1 of being Captain, he’s been humble and ready for the role. The team loves him and the fans love him. Do I think he’s one of the best captains in the league? I’m not sure, but I sure love him as our captain.

I love him a lot as a player and captain.

And at the very minimum… I think he meets the insane standard that Detroit has come to expect from its captains.

Guy is super emotional, which is both a good thing and potentially a bad thing. You want someone who cares a lot but not necessarily who will get upset or frustrated either.

I think Seider could be a great captain at some point too.

  9. The way the team collapses whenever he is out speaks volumes about how essential his leadership is.

  10. If you watch closely you can see him consistently checking on players from opposing teams to make sure they’re alright if he’s on the ice during a rough collision or a penalty like an errant high stick.

Couple that with similar respect from other players around the league and I’d say he’s in the top few.

I don’t think there’s ever any actual ranking. I just imagine a group of the « top 5 » or so and he belongs in it.

Definitely is up there with the best of them. Some may say I’m bias being a fan of his, who has always supported him, but just look at our record with him in and out of the line up… That says volumes to his impact with his leadership abilities and skill.

Also, you have guys like JT Compher, a Stanley Cup champion, saying that Larkin ‘drives the bus’. That’s huge!

He’s definitely ahead of Jaime Benn and Brady Tkachuk. That I know for sure.

I definitely think larkin is in the top half of the list. He really is an under rated player. People don’t talk about larkin outside of detroit much mostly because we sucked for so long but I think he’s one of those guys, kinda like clayton keller, that we all know is amazing but the rest of the nhl fans haven’t viewed him as relevant until this year. I personally don’t think we’ve seen all that larking is capable of yet. I think he can crack 100 points on a wings team that is ready to compete

In recent NHL history he’s following directly in the footsteps of Yzerman, Lidstrom, and most recently Zetterberg…in Hockeytown…and is beloved by team and fans alike

If that doesn’t put him easily top 5 of current captains, I don’t know what does

  15. Hes definitely not the #1 player in the league but He’s still really good and we love him.

What? We all love Larkin and he is the chosen one but top 5? We didn’t make playoffs
